Who do you prefer? John Hurt for me but I do really like Hopkins and he has probably hit higher highs.
Fun fact: Gene Hackman was going to direct Silence of the Lambs at one point and was going to cast Hurt as Lector.

Both amazing, and Hurt certainly has an infinitely greater cool factor, but gotta go with Hopkins. I think he's less effectively diverse, Hurt really ran the gamut with aplomb, but I think Sir Tony is just too god damn good at what he does.
