I do think she showed definite signs of talent and had a nice screen presence, but while I think she could be having a solid career now, I don't think it would have been on the Stone level of current success.

It's possible, I think she was better in Mean Girls than Emma in Easy A and that is what launched Stone's career and I think it was after MG that Lohan fell off the wagon into a dumpster

No. She's not as pretty, friendly, or personable.
And her parents aren't "famous" for being morons.
Talent-wise, IDK, I haven't really seen enough of Lohan or Stone to compare them.

Am I the only one who never thought she was all that talented?

No. She'd have to get really lucky, and even then she lacks the "talent" that Stone has. Plus her difficult behaviour would have eventually likely led to her downfall.

Maybe, its hard to say. Her partying (and also her family) really destroyed her career, and its sad because she was very talented.

I wouldn't say she's untalented, but I never really got hints of much more. Not like Stone is that gifted either, but she's more responsible with her talent, I guess.

Like a lot of child stars, she had a pretty poor "childhood".

It's hard to say, because Lohan's career became defined by her personal life. One day, she's Meryl Streep's daughter; another day, she's filming The Canyons with James Deen.

No, because it's not clear that Lohan loved acting (despite being good at it). She was profoundly unserious, and it has nothing to do with her partying and substance issues. Downey Jr. was a maniac but he always had a real interest in acting.

I think best case scenario if she kept it together she could have been the new rom com queen and revitalized the genre at the BO in the 2010's. Never saw signs of major dramatic acting talent from her, she was funny and had screen presence. So no, I don't think she'd be doing the kind of stuff Stone is now.

I dunno...I think if Lohan sought out auteurs in the same way Stone has or Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson did, she could have been pushed into major dramatic work.
We'll basically never know, but I personally believe Lohan had the raw, basic building blocks of acting talent to go in interesting directions with the right filmmakers.

Lol at everything thinking Stone is way more talented than Lohan. L take. But it’s also a testament to me on how much Stone has both grown as an actress and also greatly navigated her career. I truly used to not care for Stone as an actress as well but did a complete 180 after her Birdman/La La Land/Favourite run and have never really looked back. Few actors have ever made be do such a turnout on my opinion of them.

Sure. In the same universe where Macaulay Culkin has Ryan Gosling's career. I hear they starred together in La La Land directed by Josh Trank that won six Oscars.
