I thought it was a blast. It is a bit more cartoony than the first and is often reliant on callbacks, but that's not necessarily always a bad thing. Of all the new additions, only Moore and Pascal really get a chance to shine. Bridges, Berry, and Tatum are more or less...there, but Tatum has at least one good scene. And Elton John gets probably one of the best moments in the whole film, and possibly even just one of the best roles. But if you're looking for something exciting and funny, I recommend this. Also saw Ninjago today. Cute. A little more kiddie than the first two Lego movies, but still a fun movie.

I give it maybe an 8, and as for MVP between the new and returning cast, I'd say I dug Pascal the most. Glad his star is rising.

He's a fictionalized version of himself but that's all I'll say about that.

Unfortunately it pandered to the first one in all the wrong ways. It tried to go big and ballsy but ironically ended coming across small and tired. I don't have any issues with the robot dogs, or the Glasto scene, or Elton John. All the things that seem to be pissing people off, I liked. Every call back was shoe-horned in. They offed a character like Roxi without a second thought. Brought back Colin Firth through the same laziness and totally undermined the brilliance of his death scene in the first, and his return didn't actually get capitalized on at all. They wasted pretty much all the cast, Julianne Moore was an incredibly weak villian next to Jackson. Why did she never leave that room btw? Non of the set pieces left a lasting impression either. And they didn't earn any of the emotional scenes. One Big scene featuring a rendition of Country Roads was a great spectacle but didn't tug at my heart strings like they so wanted.. Despite all that it was a good film. Elton John was great. And the ex Kingsman hopeful (I forget his name) was utilized pretty well. Killer dogs was awesome. Cinematography was again top notch. I did feel like they had so much potential for some sort of p***ing match between the Kingsman and the Statesman to make it more funny but they never really went there. It just fell ridiculously short of its predecessor which at the end of the day set the bar very high.

Although I do agree that killing off Roxy was a major buzzkill.

Maybe it's bc I was advised against watching it at first so my expectations were lowered, but I enjoyed it! it's no where close to the first movie, which was in my top 3 in its year but it wasn't /that/ disappointing. I loved Egerton, Firth, Pascal, and Strong. Loved the overall villain scheme. Found it funny. My one big complaint is that the actions scenes were notttt on par with the first movie. The first movie was so precise and just a wonder to see some of those well choreographed/well designed action scenes while as this one just felt more blockbuster-y and gave me whiplash at times. That was a drawback, since the incredible action scenes in the first one were a huge part of the experience.

I really enjoyed the last 30 minutes, but up until then I was still on the fence of whether or not I was liking it. The cast for the most part was strong (though it took a little while for me to get used to what Julianne Moore was doing and I'm still not sure it worked entirely) and it was never less than entertaining, but as it was going on I was picking apart subplots and entire characters that felt erroneous. There was no need to bring Princess Tilde back as Eggsy's girlfriend, Agent Whiskey being a bad guy felt tacked on (plus I think it would have worked better if Tatum had been the one tagging along with the Kingsmen), and they could've saved us the time and just had Harry snap out of his amnesia sooner instead of tease him out of commission for a half-hour. Also, was it just me or was the CGI for the fight scenes way more off-putting this time? I thought it worked fine for when the fighting was in open space, but that claustrophobic opening in the taxi felt so awful and it's not everyday that I'm cognizant of a major continuity error as it's unfolding but Eggsy avoiding the oncoming car as it slams into the driver's side rear door only for the door to be back so he can conveniently use it to slide on the road was bothersome.
Anyway, on to stuff I liked: the humor was still pretty good though not there as often as it was in the first (something I could have anticipated since I found Samuel L. Jackson to be the funniest part of the first), the drug plotline was surprisingly well-done and politically sharp, the soundtrack was nice, it was visually pleasing to look at aside from the opening taxi fight, and the trio of Edgerton/Strong/Firth is tremendously strong. The MVP, however, was easily Elton John who stole every scene he was in.

I liked it. Not as good as the first, but I really enjoyed the humor, the cast. My only complaints was that Tatum and Bridges were seriously underused, and the film was a bit overlong and "too much" for its own good. Otherwise I quite enjoyed.
Also it's pretty funny that Tatum's been in two films where one of the major characters favorite songs is Take Me Country Roads, and he has a Southern accent in both. Lol, just noticed that.

I spent the whole movie thinking if there's any actor as cute as Taron Edgerton. Perfect husband material. Oh, and Elton John stole the show.
Nice follow-up to the original though not as great. Very entertaining. Needed more Sophie Cookson though. 8.5/10
