Good, honestly Episode 9 had the most potential to be the worst of the sequel trilogy. Not bad per say, as I'm one of the few who enjoyed Jurassic World, but the least good. Hopefully Disney can hire someone better because let's face it, Ron Howard is step down from Lord/Miller.

I hope they just let Rian Johnson do it and finish the trilogy strong.

I wouldn't mind JJ coming back. Seems like this was more of a script issue then any poorly received film, though I'm fine with him leaving.

Just how bad *was* The Book of Henry?! I don't know that it was really bad, but the trailer's weird shift from a light-hearted family drama to a sudden domestic thriller was jarring as fuck.

Also, I'm cool with this as I was super disappointed by Jurassic World and the more I think about it, I think Safety Not Guaranteed was only a hit due to the script and the cast.
The question is: who takes over? I'd be cool with Rian Johnson finishing off the trilogy if The Last Jedi winds up being good. I just don't want J.J. Abrams to take it over again. He's fine as a director, but I partially blame him for The Force Awakens being so bland. I want a director who is willing to do something different with it.
Honestly, they should get Edgar Wright for it, but I doubt they will. Maybe Duncan Jones since he seems to be pretty good buddies with Rian Johnson?

Actually, that just gave me reason to actively seek it out. Holy hell, that sounds nuts!

Not surprised tbh. Just hand it over to Rian.

Good. Now pick a good director like you did with Rian Johnson.

I'm good with this, he always seemed like a weak choice and then of course Book of Henry happened. I would be very much down with Rian doing 9 but I also like the ideas thrown around here like del Toro, Wright and Jones.

Not the biggest JJ/TFA fan, but the direction wasn't the problem. I'm surprised they don't just have him directing all three. He was pretty much born to do these. His whole previous career just feels like an audition to do a SW movie.

It only panned out 2 / 3rds of the time.

Do you think they would risk it after Tomorrowland?

expected. Get JJ Abrams back? Guillermo del Toro maybe? Guillermo del Toro is who I'm pulling for. I'd also be cool with Alfonso Cuarón, Matthew Vaughn (assuming I Am Pilgrim or a Kingsman sequel isn't filming in the next year), or Brad Bird. I'd kinda rather Rian Johnson not come back for IX just because I like the idea of switching up directors for every film.

Do you think they would risk it after Tomorrowland? So long as they make Damon Lindelof stay away.

The question is: who takes over? Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

I just hope that they're still shooting this film on 65mm since not doing so would be a huge waste.

I think Cuaron might've been a better choice for 'The Last Jedi' given that film is supposedly the darkest one in the series.
I can see del Toro or Brid directing since both guys seem to be able to take on much lighter films.
Not entirely sure about Matthew Vaughn since production value(s) isn't exactly his strength (seriously, I thought 'X-Men: First Class' looked surprisingly cheap).
