I'm not sure how I feel about it from the trailer. Looks like it could go the way of powerful or the way of mawkish.

Not a great trailer but I'm still confident it'll be damn good. Linklater's streak will continue.

Yes, I guess to quote Boyhood, I thought there would be more, at least in terms of award prospects. I mean it looks like a solid bet for the nomination for Bryan Cranston and either Laurence Fishburne or Steve Carell and for writing, and probably gets into Best Picture because of Amazon and the expanded lineup. Since I'm trying to figure out a good alternative to The Papers winning because I'm not sure that it will be able to go all the way even though it looks great on paper, I thought Last Flag Flying could be that alternative, but I get like a Wonder Boys feel from the trailer. That's not a bad thing, but in terms of winning Best Picture, I don't think it's the best thing.

Sold well as a Linklater movie, not so much as The Last Detail remake. The trio looked great tho, so there's that. I'm intrigued.

Well, that was disappointing.

It's Linklater, his style isn't really all that well suited for 2-minute trailers but I thought this was pretty good. I like the premise and the actors all look good. Carell probably has the meatiest part and Cranston's following in Nicholson's footsteps, but I'd really love to see Fishburne get some major awards traction. It feels like his film work been greatly underappreciated his whole career.

Also, I really love the idea of Vietnam War veterans coming together because of a casualty of the Iraq War and highlighting the absurdity of each respective war. That's so perfectly fitting with The Last Detail.

This managed to look even blander and more boring than I ever dared fear. Hope this is better than it looks like (fat chance) or else hope it won't come anywhere near the Oscars.

I see this being a pretty big hit and doing really well at the Oscars. The trailer isn't exciting but I think they're just trying to attract an older audience and I can see this trailer playing well to them.

Why do a bunch of people on a film board actually take this much stock in a trailer? I am seriously baffled.

Love The Last Detail, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. I just hope this doesn't go all over the map with it's tone.

Looks like the sort of film you would expect Alexander Payne to make.
Linklater has been reliably strong, and Everybody Wants Some!! was unexpectedly one of my favorite films of last year, so I'm looking forward to this.

Apparently Cranston goes supporting, Carell - lead.

Apparently Cranston goes supporting, Carell - lead. Judging by the trailer, I think that makes more sense yeah

I saw that Amazon is campaigning for Cicely Tyson as well. I had read a little bit of good buzz for her before, but I wasn't sure it would turn into anything. It looks like it could though now that Amazon is promoting her.
With Supporting Actress being so desolate, I feel that she could definitely get in ala Ruby Dee in American Gangster, and maybe even win because she's so respected. This might make more sense than Allison Janney winning because it seems like I, Tonya could be hurt by being a mockumentary whereas Last Flag Flying seems pretty straightforward. Plus it's not known how well Neon will do in the end, but Amazon can likely outspend them and already has experience from last year where they were highly successful.

This looks good. Not surprised to see that Carell is going leading. He looks like the main character based off the trailer.

Reviews are starting to come in, and so far they're mixed. Unless Wonder Wheel is top notch Woody Allen, I think Amazon should definitely back The Big Sick as it's number 1 now.
