I'm pumped for this one cause the premise sounds very interesting (love survival type films). Ben Foster is gonna be the scene stealer, just like he was in that other Foster/Bale film (3:10 to Yuma) I felt he upstaged Bale in that film and could do it again .

Really hoping this is finally the project that merges Scott Cooper's immense directorial skill with his actors with a strong script.

I´m expecting a great performance from Christian Bale given the film's director -- Scott Cooper sure knows how to direct actors. In terms of cinematography it looks promising, now it´s up for the director and the writer to raise their game.

Not pictured is Forrest Whittaker speaking incoherently and grunting wildly.

Also, I'm curious to know what your thoughts on Out of the Furnace are? I wasn't on the old board when that film came out. Bale has never been better, Affleck and Harrelson are both excellent, Saldana is good with what she's given . . . but Cooper took a pretty solid script and twisted it into a half-baked mess. Whitaker was bad, Dafoe was wasted, and the tone was all over the shop. It's worth seeing for the aforementioned incredible performances (and the fact that Bale was nominated that year for one of his worst performances is insulting), but it's an extraordinarily problematic movie. Black Mass is a better film all around, but even that suffers a bit from the pacing department.

Looks very promising. I hope Rosamund Pike has a decent role. She deserved a career surge after Gone Girl, and for some reason that never happened.

Scott Cooper has always disappointed me, so I really hope this breaks that streak.
