Didn't particularly care for season 3 tbh. Wendy's brother took up too much screen time imo. I'll add some more thoughts later

Very good season. A little contrived and swift towards the end but it was riveting, unpredictable, dark and even a bit sad. Laura Linney did the heavy lifting this season. The guy who played her brother did one heck of a job too even if the character was irritating at first. Looking forward to the fourth season.

Um, so season 3 is an exercise in completely illogical devices - Laura Linney will win an Emmy for doing a Kidman (shrill, hysterical ACTING! ......and that can be a compliment, but not so much here). Julia Garner who actually gives the best and most logical performance because she actually remembers who she's playing may be allowed to polish that Emmy for Linney so that's nice. Now on to the important things - every non-Byrde gets killed yet AGAIN or soon will be - the 3rd time now, really? and Janet McTeer elevates awful fashion to an Art form - at one point in episode 10 she wears a hideous green and blue ensemble that has to be seen to be disbelieved and she never, EVER, wears a belt for some reason (wtf). I was particularly not impressed by the performance of the drug lord who is part Tony Montana, part Alejandro Sosa, part the day manager at my local Chipotle. Let me tell you pal, that "acting" was unimpressive and sh it. Another year that I can't believe I watched, my IQ has dropped 50 more points, and now I think I have an insane affection for Linney's shins - oh and who gets on a jet to go see their zillionaire boss with Wendy in a fake denim suit and Marty in Kohl's khakis and a sports shirt anyway? Fnck this show.................and bring on season 4 because I'll be watching that too!

One of those shows where you just leave your brain at the door and let it wash all over you. Season 3 amped it up for sure. Stellar acting from everyone but it was Tom Pelphrey who really gutted me at the end. I saw a bit of myself in some of his emotional scenes with Ruth and Wendy. I also looked up his resume and didn't recognize that he was from another improbable but highly watchable show called Banshee. Definitely worth checking out. Like someone else mentioned, I can see alot of Emmy love coming for this show. Oh and that actress who played the greedy, little therapist? LOL. I knew she was toast but she was fun to watch.

Umm.That sex scene between Darlene and Wyatt Langmore was unexpected. When Wyatt mentioned the age difference in regards to Ruth and Ben -- hardest chuckle I've had in quite some time.

Gave the last few episodes of Season 3 a re watch and I will absolutely give this show credit where it's due. I like how they continue to raise the stakes with each season and that uneasy feeling that no character is safe. So kudos to the show runners for that. And as others have stated, yeah Linney is gonna win a lot of awards that's for sure.

Wendy gives me whiplash every episode. I go through the following phases:
• Wow, she's really committed to her job
• Damn, she really loves her family
• Yes, she is a fucking bitch wolf

Ah, it's essentially almost two seasons then. Each season has been 10 episodes so a 7 episode season isn't much less. Ozark is my favorite show right now With Better Call Saul also entering its final season, we will be losing the two best shows on TV.

SPOILER Just watched it and I can't figure out why ppl are so mad at Wendy for buying the second Casino behind Marty's back? They seem to forget the whole cartel family got introduced to by Marty, he pretty much brought the chaos to their family. Wendy took action because she know there was no way in Hell Martys plan to escape to the Gold Coast leaving multimillion dollar cartel business, Kansas City Mob while being chased by the FIB I was going to work. Be realistic, Marty is very dismissive of Wendy’s Ideas even though her Ideas have saved the over And over. Marty is a brilliant numbers guy, Wendy is a politician who knows how to handle people. You can’t be naive about their life style, the live a savage lifestyle and they have to step up. In all direction if they want to protect they’re children. Did I miss something?

thrilled there's only going to be one more season. Axe the Byrds and give Ruth Langmore her own spinoff, preferably with less over-the-top cartel bullshit. Like, as long as she isn't communicating with the heads of multiple cartels/gangs/federal agencies for at least two seasons that could be an all-right show. The first season of Ozark was fine but if there's one thing that cripples seasons 2 and 3 (there were a couple things, let's be real), it's that the story completely goes off the rails. The Byrds get way too powerful too quickly and the amount of access they have to convenient resources (including a direct line to the head of a damn cartel) destroys the tension.
truly the most overrated show of our time.

and while we're spitting some red hot takes, Trevor Long > Tom Pelphrey this last season's depiction of bipolar felt ripped from a soap. ridiculously melodramatic. when he's shouting WENDYYYYY in the hospital it's like they were daring me not to laugh. the brother's even being there was lazy writing. he has no agency and no reason to be in the story, he literally just shows up one day to hang out because the writers needed some external tension, and then he falls in love with Ruth (wth?) and makes everyone's life hell when he goes off his meds, and his only reason for going off his meds is so he can get a boner... god... the motivation in this show is A+. terrific writing.

It's been two years and i forgot a lot of things that happened in the show. "Who the fuck is Ben?" is all i was thinking for first episodes and then i remembered "Oh yeah, that poor guy". Such is the state of this show. It's fine entertainment but except for a couple of things you don't remember anything about it.
This season is no different too. It's engaging and entertaining. Marty is relentless as ever and Wendt becomes more ruthless but they have caught themselves in a whirlwind of mess. Will they succumb or come out unscathed is to be seen in the second part of the season. Hope at least Ruth comes out fine.

Blisteringly great first seven episodes of the final season. Julia Garner is killing it.Poor Wyatt. I've only seen Ep 1 atm but I said this earlier in this thread : She's the MVP of every season and this show has had some big time actors over the years Peter Mullan, Janet McTeer - she's the only one who comes across as real to me all the time - and this might sound weird but there is no female actress or character at least who can speak profanity like she does. There's scene in Ep 1 when Marty tells her to be careful or something and she half whispers back "Like you fucking care" - that is kind of heartbreaking and exactly right.......love her in this role.......

Ozark - Season 7, episode 7"Know anyone else who might want to kill her You F*ckin C***!"
"If you want to stop me, you're gonna have to F*ckin' KILL MEEEEEEEEEEEEE" Speechless about Julia Garner in this scene.........I wish she could have been more subtle and nuanced. Ha! GTFO ...........all of the awards..........all of them......... I often say there are a handful of male actors - ever - who can go really big and really small consistently - Mastroianni, Finney, Pacino, Nicholson, Depardieu.........there's even less females maybe .......well now add.........um, the girl from Ozark

Julia Garner just won another fucking Emmy. Ruth Langmore is one of the great modern television characters and it is insane the depths the show pushes her to and she still fucking nails it.

In the last week I've put her in the great performances thread and raved her (and her profanity, um) two other times..........she is amazing in the role - every year for 4 years. Utterly astonishing work and she keeps topping herself.......... You're gonna have to fuckin' killllllllllll meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Resisting my urge to go through this thread, I'm already in the middle of the 3rd season till that infamous sex scene (with a romantic music in the background ). I'm addicted. Laura Linney is a legend and this show reminds me why I love her and Jason Bateman so much. Ruth Langmore is fucking iconic, I live for the ladies on the show. All so complex and so badass. Some of the writing choices are so eyeroll worthy especially certain deaths, but I don't really take it that seriously, it's bloody fun to watch these wonderful actors doing their thing. So looking forward to what happens next. Also, probably the first time where I absolutely love the kids. They are not the regular asshole teenagers most shows have. They learn about their parents right in the second episode and they're are (kinda) in the business the next day, baby!

Also, probably the first time where I absolutely love the kids. Started the fourth season and I think I said it too soon 😂 I'm sorry but I think Laura Linney is bloody dominating this show, at least she has in the last 3 seasons (Too late but I'm mad that she didn't win the emmy). Love Garner and everyone else too but it's Wendy's show for me. Let's see how they'll end. I wanna see Wendy live, please.
