A fantastic show. Walter White and Marty Byrde would have been awesome business partners. So much tense and character development in each episode. You really start to connect to the characters extremely early one even if all of them are a bunch of cheaters, liars and mean folks. Still the way they are written and presented by the actors make them appealing because as flawed as they are they still have a heat somewhere and this makes them extremely human and realistic. The perfect show the binge watch because once an episode is finished you are extremely curious how it continues, what other secrets get revealed and how the characters further develope. Jason Bateman was never better and I would have never pictured him in such a dark and serious role but he mastered it wonderfully and really needs to get more roles like that. Excellent and inspired casting. Also his direction skills were fabulous but that is a big plus the show had anyway, a pitch perfect direction from all of those who were on the directors chair. Laura Linney was also wonderful. She reminded me somehow on her character in "Mystic River" only that her performance on that show was even greater. A very unpredictable woman, perfectly portrayed but one of the most unpredictable actresses working today. Another perfect casting clue. The kids were great and especially for Sofia Hublitz I can foresee a good career. Same goes to Julia Garner who should be up for many supporting actress awards. Peter Mullan was fantastic and gave a very disturbing and frightening performance. My favorite of the supporting cast however was Marc Menchaca who managed to go so much beyond the redneck stereotype but constantly playing with that. Awesome. Perfect writing, casting and soundtrack. I really hope there will be another season. They still could tell so much more of the fate of the family and I really would love to sink into it once again. 9/10

I just started it and its extremely entertaining and watchable - it's also implausible but that just may be for the set-up ...........but if you just go along with it you'll have a good time and Linney and Bateman (and in Episode 1 Esai Morales and Harris Yulin in Episode 2) were in fine form so far.
I dig it......so far

This show was a crazy meltdown of logic and coherence and completely unbelievable as it went along but it was very entertaining throughout its 10 episodes. There were many genuine gasps at twists and if you didn't reflect on them too long it worked.......... I'll be curious to see how a second season can get itself out of the corners it's painted itself into but I'll tell ya one thing.......people are gonna die.

Finally binged watched all of the 1st season. Loved every second of it ( even if there were some questionable choices made by certain characters but damn was it entertaining as hell) Bateman was outstanding & even directed a handful of episodes. . Really good shit and can't wait for Season 2

I watched s2 e1 and for better or worse this show remains wildly almost comically improbable, with enough murders, mayhem and death for multiple grisly lifetimes. It also remains endlessly watchable anyway - though Marty should have had a bullet in the head at least 7 episodes ago. Janet McTeer stole episode 1 which means I likely have a whole year to watch Peter Mullan (MVP season 1) and her - two Brits of course - dominate a show called Ozark.

Finished watching 2nd season. Decent but kind of a messy one. Characters made some stupid decisions just because the script told them and Marty took backseat this time and almost felt like a passive character while Wendy was in the driving seat. Laura Linney was the standout with the girl who played Ruth behind her.

I thought the first season was fine. I did appreciate how quickly his family was let in on his dirty little secret instead of milking that a while or living a double life for a couple seasons. Nice to have Linney with a more meaty character. Haven't seen the second season yet.

Binged this recently. S1 was so fucking intense, it was impossible to stop. So many unexpected turns and all the characters (esp Julia Garner) added so much to the plot. Season 2 really lost its novelty there. Got tired of Marty. Loved Wendy but idk how much more they can sustain here. I think *too* much happens on this show at once which loses its steam pretty fast. BrBa was intense but knew how to handle itself and didn’t overload each episode with like 20 twists.

I am one of the biggest fans of Jason Bateman and Laura Linney and as a dedicated fan, I watched the first two episodes of this the moment it released. But it was soo heavy and chaotic right from the beginning that I decided to give it some time. Now that it's winning so many awards, I am planning to start again. What do you guys think of it?

Finished the second season a few weeks ago just in time for the return. I thought it was really strong and Linney continues to knock it out of the park.

Based on the clip, Laura needs to make room for her Emmy, this season.

Okay, in the first 15 minutes of s3, e1 a completely improbable bomb attack happens ........someone says this line of dialog: "We saw Molly Hatchet open for .38 Special"......Jason Bateman's doofus son says he's earned 6,000 bucks like as casually as I drink coffee and his parents react like they would if he had just said "Hi" or something........ and the wonderful lasagna dinner the family are eating got prepared by elves or some sh it I guess.
It's back baby, fnck yeah......in all it's ridiculous glory.......still eminently watchable even if you really should know better......

Ultimate guilty pleasure show. Although this season was a huge improvement on the last and a positive step in legitimizing itself. Would still never call it great as the writing is too often sloppy (there's a subplot in S3 which is eye-roll worthy), but the acting is. Linney was especially great this season and it the penultimate episode ranks with the best of her career. Wasn't entirely convinced by Pelphrey early on (mental illness is hard to get right, actors tend to either go too big or small), but he won me over by the end. Garner remains a livewire presence and the show's quasi Jesse Pinkman. Bateman remains a sturdy presence (even if he cedes much of the spotlight this season to Linney) and McTeer has a much more dynamic role this season. Wouldn't be surprised if all 5 are Emmy nominees and Linney will be hard to beat.

Umm.That sex scene between Darlene and Wyatt Langmore was unexpected. Only Ozark's "writers" would force that sex scene that no one wanted to see on us, AND then add erectile dysfunction from medication to ruin the sex scene everyone actually wanted to see AND then encourage discontinuing your meds to give us the sex scene we wanted to see........AND totally fetishize Laura Linney and Janet McTeer's Mom-cankles, AND zoom in on the crotches of "teenage" girls on the boat AND have a man literally punch a female in the face - a female who already had a busted lip btw. I have written porn scripts with more subtlety than this and yet..........I literally have ideas for 10 more porn scripts after seeing this season and once I get a cigarette I can start on them.........

Didn't particularly care for season 3 tbh. Wendy's brother took up too much screen time imo. I'll add some more thoughts later
