"It’s not for everybody, but I hope people like it.”
That's a quote from Payne on the movie. Lol he sounds really confident in his film.

I actually like that quote because it makes it sound like he wasn't forced to go for something conventional. Maybe he's even referring to the bad screening reports, in which I'm not putting too much stock now.

Well, being the opener of Venice is more meaningful than reported bad early screen tests, so we know what we should be hopeful for.

As for Downsizing I really can imagine it being great or terrible.

Sounds like Payne going the route of Kaufman. Not what I was expecting!

Sounds good, though I worry a abit about that "disastrous" test-screening report, as much as I really shouldn't.

Ugh, this happens every year to me where I hear mixed to poor screening reactions and either to decide to believe the buzz and drop the film from most/all of my predictions or try to ignore it, and it looks like I picked the wrong option with Downsizing because I don't see it dropping too much from the 91 that it's at now that it wouldn't be an option for picture or director. Oh well, at least it seems like Hong Chau is the real deal for supporting actress, and Christoph Waltz has been highlighted so far, which means he's a definite threat for supporting actor.

We can't blame you. Lots of people threw the film off when that "negative" reaction came out. They thought it was a dud, glad to read that they may have been wrong.
