And if so, did you like it? I planned on seeing it this morning (had the day off) and it was fucking sold out! (at 10:45am ) Gonna try one of the later showings of it. Sadly , its only playing at one theater near me.

Yep, it's very good. Worth-watching. Sure, I wish the mystery was built little more suspenseful, so that the reveal would be even more shocking. As a director, Sheridan is no Villeneuve or Mackenzie but he pulled it off really well. Cinematography work is beautiful, as is the score. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen are both very strong. Don't think they'll make into Oscars or something as they seem to have no buzz and Weinstein Co is not interested in pushing the film much but hopefully at least some critics groups will not ignore them.
Very solid, satisfying effort.

Definitely seeing it when the theaters near me get it. LOVE Sheridan's first two scripts, so I'm hoping this is no different.
Plus, it looks way better than The Snowman.

Just got back from it and still need to gather my thoughts on Wind River but I think I can safely say this is my favorite film of 2017 (so far). It was even better than I had hoped for. Renner was a stone cold badass in this (his character Cory Lambert is my favorite character of the year so far). Renner fuckin nailed it! And Olsen was quite good too. Sheridan is definitely a name to keep an eye on.

I'm thinking why Harvey doesn't make this film his main priority? That'd be the smartest thing to do. "Mary Magdalene" and "Current War" are potential flops but this one at least has decent reviews (73 MC but who cares, "Lion" is 69). It already won several awards including one in Cannes, and Sheridan was nominated just last year for his "Hell or High Water" script. Actor and Actress categories are seemingly packed but who knows what may happen, Renner has already turned into a respected actor and he gives one of his best performances here. Olsen's egregious Oscar snub for "Martha Marcy May Marlene" in 2012 may help her this time maybe, who knows. I'm not saying it'll perform strong with AMPAS as it seems like a packed year but still this makes more sense to focus on rather than the other two.

For being a debut film, it's got one hell of a strong voice. It's confident, seasoned work despite Sheridan's journeyman status behind the camera. Renner's performance is very reminiscent of the very best of Gary Cooper; if ever they decided to remake High Noon, there's no better choice for Marshal Will Kane. Olsen is a very fine complement to him, and while there are definite shades of Blunt's Kate Macer in her character, she nevertheless has her own strength and energy that stands alone. Gil Birmingham also needs to be in every Sheridan-related film from here on out. The guy has an amazing presence and can do so much with so little. It was also cool to see Graham Greene back, although I wish he'd had a bit more to do. And Nick Cave and Warren Ellis once again prove their godhood in the film score department.
The general mystery at the heart of the story isn't complex by any stretch (I had it more or less pegged in a general sense from the first twenty minutes), but the mystery isn't the crux of the film. It's a meditation on grief, loss, and moving on . . . not from it, but rather with it. Sheridan's strength is in taking basic plots and weaving them into grander tapestries of examining the human condition in relation to such simple ideas. I will say that there are fewer naff lines in Wind River than in Sheridan's previous two films, which (as strong as they are) still had a couple of clangers that needed some reworking.
In terms of comparing it to the other films in Sheridan's trilogy, I'd say in terms of direction: Villeneuve > Sheridan > Mackenzie. In terms of script: Wind River > Hell or High Water > Sicario. In terms of leads: Bridges > Renner > Blunt > Olsen > Pine.

I loved all three films and think of them in nearly the same regard. The only true clear-cut winner is Villenueve's absolute superb direction of Sicario is better than the other two's. And, to be quite honest, it's my favorite Bridges performance... so I guess I could say that one was clear-cut too. BUT! then I saw Renner.

No disrespect to Sheridan or Mackenzie, but Villeneuve has a certain electricity and deliberateness to the way he shoots things. Sheridan and Mackenzie don't appear to be nearly as composed. That isn't a bad thing, but it certainly is what separates Sicario from the other two.

With all the praise I vaunted at it, though, I did feel that Sheridan missed a trick at actually having a Native actor in the leading role. I was thinking Zahn McClarnon from Fargo would've been amazing.

Tried to watch it this morning, but it was impossible to concentrate with Mr "IM DRUNK AND PROUD" and Mrs "IM DRUNK AND PROUD" AKA "I KISSED YOUR ASSISTANTS COCK ON THE WAY YOU LITTLE TINKIE" as the audience in my theatre, and just two rows ahead of me at that. I tried to concentrate towards the movie first, but then I couldn't have, I just couldn't have when she said "HIS BELT IS SOFFFTEEERRR I CAME SO HARD TO IT".
So, basically Sheridan has to wait for me to watch it next week.

I saw this again at a much closer theater and picked up on some things I missed the 1st time (like a good amount of Renner's dialogue where he seems to mumble or talk under his breath)

There are a lot of subtle things about the film I just realized regarding it, as I got out of the theater. I can't wait to rewatch it in the future.

One thing I'd like to give major props to (and something that stuck with me) was how unexciting and ugly the shootout was... in the best possible way. And before that when one of the Sheriff's deputies gets on edge, "WHY YOU FLANKING ME?!"

Just got done seeing this and thought it was quite good - I like how Sheridan seems to be very interested in how place is tied to one's identity and the baggage that often comes with it.
I didn't think the writing was as strong as Hell or High Water, particularly some of the dialogue (from Renner specifically), but it was solid overall.
