I'm never gonna get to see this damn movie, am I? It had better be good at this point. Yeah, I hate to imagine this ultimately disappointing... really hope Craig goes out with at least three above average Bond films.

Yeah, I hate to imagine this ultimately disappointing... really hope Craig goes out with at least three above average Bond films. Well I still liked Spectre and I sort of wish he'd gone out with that one since I'm not sure you can top the ending with him finally facing off with Blofeld and getting a happy ending with a girl for once. I wouldn't be able to stand this delay even more if it was the debut for the new actor.

I wouldn't be able to stand this delay even more if it was the debut for the new actor. I do think Spectre is somewhat underrated, but for me it would have still been an underwhelming conclusion to the Craig era if it had actually been his last film. I like the idea of its ending, and it could have made a great conclusion to Craig's run (the highly anticipated Blofeld confrontation, Bond finally moving on after Vesper's death), but I don't find his romance with Madeleine all that convincing as its presented, and the third act with Blofeld feels kind of anticlimactic imo. It seems like NTTD will make Bond's relationship with Madeleine more complicated at least (based on the trailer), and even though Blofeld seems relegated to a smaller role, I like that we're getting more of him. Even though I consider Casino Royale and Skyfall to be the two above-average films of the Craig Bonds, the former is the only film that I really love. Skyfall is one I respect more than love, so I'm hoping that NTTD is at least somewhere in between those two.

I was ready to kill ysomebody. I thought it was getting pushed back again. But I like hearing this I think that every time I see a new post in this thread. I have no idea what my expectations are for this. Obviously looking forward to it but it sounds like it's going to be a major departure which could be good or bad.

god all the trailers for this are overkill. What is this the 5th? And nothing new but more Seydoux and Waltz which is disappointing because I'm still trying to forget Spectre. Marketers: stop reminding me that they're in this movie please.
I mean, it still looks cool but not any cooler than the first trailer last year. My hype levels are unchanged, I'm just tired of waiting.

I really want to see what Cary Fukunaga can do with a huge budget. I'll definitely be seeing this in theaters

World of Reel:
There has been confirmation that “No Time To Die” (10.08.21) runs for two hours and 43 minutes (via IndieWire). The 163 minute runtime makes it the longest Bond movie ever. The previous winner of this title was “Spectre” (148 minutes). I had heard early last February that the film would be two hours and 55 minutes in length, so a trim clearly happened these last 17 or so months — the ship has been tightened, so to speak, by editors Tom Cross and Elliot Graham. Regardless, I’m set to watch the film next Wednesday (and will hopefully report back the night of).

The final trailer is insane and makes it look like Cary Fukunaga is gonna throw everything and the kitchen sink at the audience. All signs point to Daniel Craig going out with a bang as Bond. Also I completely understand some of the gripes about the long runtime. However, for this Bond film in particular I think its definitely necessary (because there are a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up and it gives the audience a chance to breath & take it all in. And not be rushed.) Bring this shit on!

The man himself has finally weighed in on the "female Bond" debate. www.indiewire.com/2021/09/daniel-craig-james-bond-woman-1234666366/100% agree. I was getting worried they were actually going to do it given that seemingly no one had the balls to be mildly un-PC and say "no, that's a bad idea" when the question was asked. He and Broccoli being willing to be honest about it recently makes it sound like it's not going to happen.

yeah I'm sorry it's not the same thing. Craig is wrong here. You can't create a female character comparable to one that's been established for decades and has its own brand overnight. They should absolutely write good parts for women and women of color but these things aren't mutually exclusive and in the meantime there's no reason to exclude women from a profitable franchise character. We are talking about money, power and influence here, and when Craig in effect says "get your own thing", in practice what that means is excluding women from existing IP and consequently that money, power and influence that doesn't exclude men while at the same time asking them to shoulder the burden of creating franchises and characters worth millions of dollars in an industry that's still heavily male-dominated. In other words, a pretty basic and baldfaced manifestation of patriarchal bias with real-world effects. Misogyny in real time. Why doesn't Daniel Craig create that role. You know, the one that's "just as good [and lucrative] as James Bond, but for a woman"? We're waiting.

Apparently this is quite ‘silly’ in terms of plot, some comparing it to the Moore movies, but the tweets that said that still really dug it.
Consensus seems to be Casino Royale, Skyfall, and No Time to Die are the definitive top 3 of the Craig era.
