Jesus, why is this happening? he died just like his friend Chris Cornell RIP Chester I just read that today was Chris Cornell's birthday, so I bet that had something to do with it. I know depression and mental illness can be very difficult to treat, but with Cornell and now with Bennington, I just wish that they would have reached out to someone before deciding to take their own lives. I don't know if it would have made a difference, but I would like to think that it could have. It's even more tragic that Cornell left behind three children, and Bennington had six children.

I heard about this earlier and was absolutely shocked. Linkin Park was my favorite band as a kid, and although I've outgrown their music and haven't listened to their stuff in years, obviously I'm still a bit sentimental towards them. Absolutely unexpected and saddening. RIP.

I fell out of the Linkin Park loop after A Thousand Suns, but I always loved their sound and music. Devastating to hear.

Depression is a bitch. He did it on Chris Cornell's birthday. He was very close friends with Cornell and reportedly the godfather of his son. I just told my brother who was a huge fan. I was never a big Linkin Park fan myself - although I did like that song "In the End." You could always hear the pain in his voice. Chester had battled depression for a long time and put that into his songs. I think that's why my generation gravitated towards his music.
