want to be optimistic, but that trailer does nothing for me at all. The YA vibes are way too strong.

The 2003 version is the worst movie I've ever seen. It's only up from here!

Well guess I'm gonna be the optimistic one here then. I like that trailer.
Visually it looks like it should be a treat, and I hope the film is faithful enough to the book, which I remember reading as a kid. It seems a bit "out there" to be a blockbuster, but it has promise.
Wasn't a fan of the Del Rey Sweet Dreams cover though, that kinda sucked.

Chris Pine is looking fine as wine. I didn't really notice anything else.

I was hoping for the best because it's a great cast and because of Ava DuVernay's directing it. After seeing the teaser though, I'm not really sure that she was the best fit for the material. I mean it doesn't look terrible exactly, but as Tommen_Saperstein wrote the YA vibes are way too strong. I just would have expected more.

Some of Duvernay's directorial touches seem nice, and I liked the 'Sweet Dreams' cover, but the film overall looks utterly generic and bland.

Technically, Disney has already made this movie before. I have vague memory of that movie now. But I also remember reading the book back in grade school.
The trailer reminds me a bit of Tomorrowland (2015). As in it kinda invokes a similar vibe and vision like that movie. So far, I found it a bit intriguing from the trailer. But that's just me for now.

Film looks good. Not sure it can be a hit, but I'm digging the visual style.

So, the big “SJW” Disney tentpole, written and directed by female filmmakers (one African-American), and led by a cast dominated by women... currently sits at 45%.Clearly that money Disney “pays off critics with” is well at work. I’m being sarcastic, of course. Normally I wouldn’t point that out, but there’s likely to be people who take me seriously.

BP nod cause you know the academy doesn't want to appear racist and sexist.
