I'm still in awe of this delicious, sweat-soaked, noir-inspired portrayal.

Thanks for the recommendation, Tyler. She indeed looks fantastic and totally suits the part. I feel she could even be better than Lange's portrayal, and I've always been one of the biggest praisers of Lange. (yeah I know you think she sucks) I think Vivien Leigh sucks so to each his own.

I do indeed highly recommend this adaptation! It's pulpier than the Kazan film, and certainly ratchets up the camp, but I think these elements suit the source material (and particularly this interpretation of it) quite well. Beverly D'Angelo and Randy Quaid are wonderful as Stella and Mitch, and yes, Ann-Margret is the preeminent Blanche for me. Treat Williams looks fantastic as Stanley, but his performance is a bit stilted. That being said, the final confrontation between Blanche and Stanley is staged so powerfully. Definitely let me know what you think if you watch it. As for Lange, I think she's quite good to great in Country, Men Don't Leave, Music Box, A Thousand Acres, and Tootsie, but yes, I do find her to be hopelessly overrated. I want to like her so much more than I do, but there it is. I haven't seen her version of Streetcar yet, but I'm really looking forward to it, if only for Alec Baldwin and Diane Lane.
