THE IRON LADY meets THE IMITATION GAME with Joe Wright's eye for visuals.

It's a pretty well put together trailer. Shows off the cinematography and Oldman quite nicely which are probably the films best bets.

Come for the Oldman, stay for the Dillane. I love that guy. Should've won some awards for "John Adams".

Eh, looks a bit safe and baity (a problem I often have with Wright's style), but far from bad. I reckon Oldman's got Best Actor in the bag unless DDL blows everyone away (which is likely, to be fair).
I'd fucking love it if Dillane gets enough screentime to earn a Supporting Actor nom. Maybe Lily James too? Honestly, those two are my main reason for having any interest in this beyond checking it off the Awards-season list.

I know there's a certain segment of AMPAS that's still pretty big that loves this kind of stuff, so I won't be surprised if it's nominated for several Oscars. I got J. Edgar and The Iron Lady vibes from it though. I mean I didn't expect Oldman to be subtle at all, but he seemed way over the top even for him. I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing since actors usually love awarding showier acting, but after this trailer I'm still convinced Oldman is still going to be compared to John Lithgow and that's going to hurt his chances to win.

I actually feel a little less confident on Oldman after seeing this, to be honest. I think he's in for a nomination, but I'm getting major Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game vibes from this, and I can see it being a bit too, well, easy a choice. Plus some of those line readings sounded pretty naff; I'm hoping the context mellows them out.

I don't know, that big speech scene was grander and more awards-friendly than anything Cumberbatch did in Imitation Game (not better mind, but more typical Oscary stuff). I don't think he looks all that good personally, but maybe the academy will want to go with the easy choice? Time will tell, I guess.

I can see Oldman winning for this. Maybe also a nomination for Kristin Scott Thomas. I don't think it looks great though.

Gary Oldman looks great, as expected (and yes, the make-up does help, a lot)...but what I would really love, was to see Dillane getting nominated If PTA comes out with another masterpiece, and DDL with another powerhouse performance - I could see the milkshake drinker getting the Oscar

The Oldman Rises ps : did Gary actually gain weight for that part or is he wearing a fat suit ? Fat suit, he's thin. He revealed that he spent over 200 hours in the make-up chair to become Churchill and “carried around half my body weight” in the prosthetics to add the pounds to his slight frame.

Looks meh. It feels like they're going for Lincoln but the dialogue they gave us glimpses of doesn't sound up to snuff. Oldman looks good, with some of the line readings seeming awkward at first but on another watch I felt more confident that it'll be fine in context, not unlike some who thought DDL sounded off in the first trailers for Lincoln only for his actual performance to blow everyone away.
