In a year with a PTA-directed DDL swan song and Joaquin in a Cannes-winning noir, this is still the Best Actor nomination I hope to see happen most. Magnolia's not a great studio when it comes to campaigning, but if they can just get Stanton out in the field early, he could pull a Bichir.

Wtf this looks so so good. HDS looks terrific and I really hope he gets a nod. It looks likely. And David Lynch❤

Logan. Lucky Logan. Lucky. These words will be showing up on my line-ups quite a bit especially if they live up to their promise like the first one.

Damn, a Stanton nom would be awesome.
Also, "Directed by John Carroll Lynch" and "Co-starring David Lynch" almost feel like typos, but that little role reversal should be fascinating.

I've been gently rooting against old-timers in Best Actor just to preserve Richard Farnsworth's legacy, but Harry Dean Stanton has been my go-to pick for an honorary Oscar for over a decade, and I would settle for a long-overdue acting nod. David Lynch looks like great fun here. He's a remarkably adept actor (he was robbed of a Guest Emmy for Louie), much like his cohort Werner Herzog. In fact, Herzog could totally cast Lynch as a villain and it would be amazing.

Man, Harry Dean Stanton looks really fucking great - obviously rooting for a nomination. This looks very reminiscent to Farnsworth´s work in The Straight Story. Judging by this trailer, I would say both films are very similar (maybe because of the doctors and David Lynch, I don´t know). Anyway, a DDL, Phoenix, Oldman, Denzel and Stanton line-up would probably be the best line-up of the decade.

In fact, Herzog could totally cast Lynch as a villain and it would be amazing. Stanton is certainly long overdue for a nod. His work in Paris, Texas is probably among my top five favorite performances of all-time, certainly as far as leading actors go, and the fact that he wasn't recognized for that is beyond criminal to me. He's just enjoyable to watch in general and is a true under-appreciated screen legend, so I'd be overjoyed if this role finally brings him to the Academy's attention. It could definitely be a similar deal to Farnsworth's nomination, which is one of my favorite ever for that category. Stanton's role here definitely seems to have some clear parallels to what Farnsworth did, and it would be awesome if he pulls off something equally top-tier. And yeah, Lynch is a really fun actor. I've always gotten a kick out of Gordon Cole (somehow that shtick never gets old), and would love to see what he can do in a meatier film role. The other Lynch has always been one of my favorite character actors, and I'm interested to see what he can do behind the camera with his debut. All around, this movie is definitely something to look forward to.

YES.
Easily one of my most anticipated for this year. If Harry Dean Stanton gets a nomination I'll be ecstatic - such an underappreciated actor.

Magnolia's releasing it September 29th. They've never gotten a Big Eight nod, but if enough critics throw him some support, he could get in.

But hey, a couple of years ago we didn't think A24 would be the powerhouse it is today, so anything can happen, and if they get screeners out early and put the work in, I can definitely see him being the indie darling. Stanton likely doesn't give a shit about campaigning, but he's got big friends in the Academy, so it's certainly possible that they'll see this as *gulp* their last opportunity to recognize a living legend.

Stanton looks fantastic for sure, but more importantly, this looks like the kind of film that could end up my #1 of the year.
