1. Goodbye to Language - 9.5 2. Les Carabiniers - 8.5 3. Breathless - 8.5 4. Vivre Sa Vie - 8 5. Contempt - 8 6. Masculin Feminin - 7.5 7. La Chinoise - 7.5 8. Weekend - 7 9. Pierrot le fou - 7 10. Histoire(s) du cinema - 6 11. A Woman is a Woman - 6 12. Alphaville - 6 13. Band of Outsiders - 6 14. Made in the USA - 5
I'm sure I've seen these, but I don't remember them:
Two of Three Things I Know About Her In Praise of Love Notre Musique Le Petit Soldat
Like him, but only really the top 3 I can say LOVE. The first two are masters at their specific game, mad-recluse-avant-garde and political absurdist fiction. Breathless is a weird case, it's his most accessible and the only link he ever had with the common audience - a straightforward movie about outlaws. And since it's a useless sub-genre, I'm surprised Breathless is the solitary stand-out for me. I'd call Contempt the next most common movie of his. He's cool but he trails behind foreign directors I'm more excited about. (Rohmer, Akerman, Bunuel, Antonioni)
From experience, patricians tend to latch onto Two or Three Things more than most of his others, so I'm definitely anticipating a rewatch of that.

only seen seven of his films. Vivre sa Vie is maybe my favorite movie of all time and I also love Une femme est une femme, but the rest are mixed bags for me. Still need to see more. Le Mépris was the last Godard I watched and it was massively disappointing.

Contempt is hands down one of the best films ever made, can't believe it isn't higher on most people's lists. He's made a lot of great movies, but none of them (at least from what I've seen) can hold a candle to it.

I'm winging this, but here's a rough ranking:
1. Vivre sa Vie 2. Contempt 3. Bande à part 4. Alphaville 5. Pierrot le Fou 6. Hail Mary 7. King Lear 8. Histoire(s) du cinéma 9. Weekend 10. 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her 11. JLG/JLG – Self-Portrait in December
12. Masculin Féminin 13. Breathless 14. Le Petit Soldat 15. Tout Va Bien 16. In Praise of Love 17. Une femme est une femme 18. Film Socialisme
To say I am a fan of Godard would feel somewhat disingenuous, but I do find him interesting and respect his tremendous influence on film. I like the first 6 of these films a good bit (especially the first 2), find 7-13 interesting in one way or another, and don't care for the last 5. Also, I know I've seen Passion, Nouvelle Vague, La Chinoise, and Notre musique but I don't remember them well enough to feel comfortable ranking them.

I love the attitude his has in his approach to filmmaking but as part of that I don't respond to all of his work, I can adore some of his decisions, the same way I can loathe some others, it's a bit like a test and see how much can I swallow, which is probably the reason why I still haven't seen enough of his films.
The ones I adore, and I could watch many times: Weekend Vivre sa vie Every Man for Himself Band of Outsiders Contempt Masculin Féminin
The ones I can see what he's going for but I find rather opaque Breathless Goodbye to Language Tout va bien
An enormous mixed bag A Woman is a Woman Pierrot le fou Film Socialisme Hail, Mary

Vivre Sa Vie: 9/10 Breathless: 8/10 Pierrot le Fou: 7/10
Tried to watch Band of Outsiders a few weeks ago but couldn't find a copy of it online. Pretty shocked I couldn't find it considering it has 18K+ votes on IMDb.

I feel it hard to really rank and rate them because I've recently been revisiting a bunch of those classics for the first time since my film student days, and finding films I once liked and admired to have become insufferable and laughable.
8 01. Weekend 02. Le Mepris - only one I've rewatched that has held up. 03. A Bout de Souffle
7 04. Alphaville 05. Tout va Bien 06. Bande a part
6 07. Vivre sa Vie - most of it holds up fine, but that bit in the cinema is the reason people make fun of movies like this. 08. Une Femme est une Femme 09. Sympathy for the Devil 10. 2 ou 3 choses que je sais d'elle
5 11. Masculin Feminin
4 12. Pierrot le Fou - sweet jesus. this used to be a 7 or an 8.
