As expected, the Cannes film festival has completely altered the BP race, at least the way we see it. Last month, Wonderstruck won by a landslide with 22 votes, followed by Dunkirk with 10, and now the former loses a ridiculous number of 20 votes, falling to the bottom half of the list... which increases its total number by 2: newcomers are The Florida Project, one of the best reviewed films out of Cannes and probably A24's #1 with an October release; and especially Last Flag Flying, making one hell of an entry after recently being announced as opening this year's NYFF, before a November release via Amazon. Latest news have also included a massive cast addition to the now titled The Papers, which has benefited from Wonderstruck's epic fail and risen to the top of our predictions. The other contenders more or less maintain their support, including the total of votes (only 3 less than last month's, adding MAR's and OB2's as always) as the race starts to get a little clearer... We'll see if this becomes more established next month when news of Venice and TIFF hit us.
1. The Papers - 19 votes 2. Last Flag Flying - 7 votes 3. Detroit - 6 votes 3. Dunkirk - 6 votes 5. Call Me by Your Name - 4 votes 6. Phantom Thread - 3 votes 7. Blade Runner 2049 - 2 votes 7. Downsizing - 2 votes 7. Get Out -2 votes 7. Wonderstruck - 2 votes 11. Darkest Hour - 1 vote 11. The Death of Stalin - 1 vote 11. The Florida Project - 1 vote 11. Molly's Game - 1 vote 11. Suburbicon - 1 vote
Total: 58 votes
