This seems like a People's Choice Winner to me at TIFF now.

Lean on Pete must be a non-starter it was always too light to break. Other than Buscemi (and Sevigny to some extent) this doesn't seem to have much to establish itself for any Oscar race. How's the word on Sevigny BTW, if any?

How's the word on Sevigny BTW, if any? Idk if "light" is the word, but yeah, I always feared it would be very detached like typical Haigh and not emotionally manipulative enough to breakout In the book, apparently Sevigny's role is very small as she plays someone at the horse stable who accuses Buscemi of animal cruelty

How's the word on Sevigny BTW, if any? I feel bad for Steve Buscemi after all the pre-buzz on his role, and now it doesn't seem likely since so far A24 has been able to balance just campaigning for one film as their big push. Plus, Best Supporting Actor could be stacked with Willem Dafoe and Michael Stuhlbarg emerging as early favorites and Colin Farrell, Laurence Fishburne, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Mendelsohn, Jason Mitchell, and Michael Shannon getting pre-buzz too, and then whoever might emerge from Dunkirk and/or Detroit, I don't think he can make it in if Lean on Pete isn't A24's number 1. There's always The Death of Stalin, but I'm not sure if any of the cast will emerge as a possible nominee or not.

Yeah, I did think Buscemi's best shot was with The Death of Stalin, since his role is probably the baitiest there, but I'm not sure there'll be a clear standout in that film and the category is already pretty packed.
