Jordan just missed here (6th for MVP as a Rookie) - and Eric Dickerson also..........Tyson is stretching it, but ok Clark may win a series but they'd never beat the Liberty this year imo Lonzo Ball? Cameron Brink?

I can appreciate the old-school repping that gets Brown on the list over Dickerson, but Wilt (or Michael, or Bird) over Magic is crazy to me. That playoff run is fucking historic and should put him over everybody. The Tyson inclusion is most definitely a joke. Relative to other guys of the same era he did fight more, sure, but rookie-year fights/opponents don't make you comparable to guys playing in real sports leagues. Also, I don't watch WNBA, so I can't really comment on Caitlin Clark, but she would TOP Jackie Robinson?? pacinoyes, I never would have figured you were Jason Whitlock of all people!!

I think his logic (uh) is the Fever would go worst to first - with a shaky team - and Robinson didn't win a title that first year or rewrite multple stats like she has ..........because she's awesome ........but yeah it ain't happenig (yet) anyway for Shesus .......amen Also everytime you mention Magic Johnson playing center like that one of my cousins in Philly feels a sharp stabbng groin pain.......coincidence? Who can say really.............

Well I didn't say anything about playing Center though that is a pretty impressive thing for a rookie to do (on the road, with their best player missing!) in such a pivotal game. I'm pretty sure he basically averaged a triple double through their entire run though.

NFL- Definitely Dickerson, HM to Randy Moss with 17 TD's as well
Baseball- Thinking either Judge's 52 homers in 17 or Ichiro hitting 350 with 50 steals and 30some doubles. Henderson got 100 steals his first full year but got called up some the year before, not sure if he counted as a rookie.
NBA- Don't see how it's not Wilt, he completely re wrote the stat sheet to a stupid degree, it's like if a rookie NFL QB threw for 7000 yards this year. MJ's second and still up there for any sport all time. Magic was good but putting him on the level of those two is giving him a ton of milage out of one game.
Assuming it's Gretzky for hockey, individual sports like boxing don't really count for the purposes of a list like this, and no Clark is not close to the top guys here. With Jackie Robinson you're judging him by a separate standard, his dealing with the verbal abuse and danger he was in is more impressive than Wilt scoring 40 a night but we're talking about character there and not sports.
For a top five I'd have Wilt, Dickerson, and MJ as a top 3, Gretzky's got to be in there somewhere but not sure where to rank him, and maybe Moss at 5.

Ok, Robinson is 1, I get it........fine but Robinson, Gretzky (my fave athlete ever) and Jordan didn't hit any major overall first year records (maybe Gretzy asssts? Maybe?)....... ....Clark has like several BIG records..........get on board ffs count and give the girl her flowers (um gag that expression)............. unless you just mean the WNBA is a very unfunny, pathetic joke of a league.........in whch case, oh, yeah, um, agreed

I still don't think she's a very efficient offensive player at the moment, 42% shooter and 5-6 turnovers a game. The most impressive thing is the passing which I think is what the future should be for her. The ideal situation would be her as the second option scoring (scoring less but at a higher percentage and less turnovers) being the primary distributor on a good team, and continuing to bulk up to become a better defender (I'm just here for the arms remember). People speculated about her going for 30 a game and breaking all the WNBA scoring records when she came in, but I think she could end up doing that with assists, with an actual good team she could be putting up stupid Stockton type assist numbers, like 14-15 a night. People wanted her to be Steph but I think ideally the comp would be Magic, mainly a passer but also a scoring threat. Regardless, MJ was the best player in the league day 1 which she wasn't and still isn't. Bird was top 5 (which I really don't think she is either based on the stats) and could do a lot more things, rebound, defend, nearly a 50% shooter. Not really feeling the kind of immediate dominance from her you got from Gretzky, Judge, Dickerson, or Moss either.

Wildly disagree...........she's waaaaaaaaaay in the lead - dude Reese is just a 13-13 player - and Clark geerates more points than ANY player ever in the WNBA at nearly 40PPG - nobody scores 30 PPG in the WNBA - up until this year no one had averaged 26 PPG .............MJ was 6th in the MVP race as a rookie...I assure you Clark will be top 5 - maybe 2 or 3.............apples and oranges yes, but still........she clearly is somewhere near the top of rookie seasons ever - statistically.........also she leads Rookies in Efficiency now too.........I'm serious her stats have insanely jumped in ~ 12 games

Btw - I went and looked at MJ's Rookie Season Pre-Playoffs - and I'm not saying Clark is MJ (at all) - I'm saying their Rookie Seasons are astonishingly similar - (except it's the WNBA ) - obviously Jordan is the better defender........... Jordan - 3rd in Overall Points Per Game, Clark 8th and rising atm - but will set total Rookie points record - pretty unheard of for a true PG Jordan - 5.9 in Assists, Clark 1st - will set All Time Record for All WNBA Players - @ 8.5 atm Jordan - 6.5 in Rebounds, Clark 5.8 atm - a record for Rookie WNBA Guards Jordan - Wins RotY & 6th for MVP, Clark will at least equal that.......
Both improved their teams almost exactly the same amounts of proportional wins - and a playoff birth (Clark is 6th seed, Jordan was 7th)..........Clark increased attendance and viewership more proportionally, generated a higher percentage of Team Total Points (a WNBA record) - Clark has several all-time WNBA records - Jordan's are less dynamic as Rookie (Bulls records mostly)
