May we say that allowing Imane Khelif, a boxer whose chromosomes are XY, to fight against females is criminal? The same weight doesn't mean the same muscular mass in males and females. A guy said that letting him to punch women is the same as letting Mike Tyson to fight in featherweight if he perceived himself as belonging to that group.

The only one claiming that Imane Khelif has a Y chromosome is Umar Kremlev, president of the IBA which has not been recognized by the IOC since 2019 because of corruption and issues with its governance. The supposed test proving this has not been made public and the IOC has claimed the actual failed test had to do with elevated levels of testosterone. There is nothing tangible to indicated Khelif is transgender, and I find it highly doubtful to suspect that Algeria would be willing to send in a transgender athlete to represent them.

The level of testosterone excluded Khelif (and another athlete) from world competitions. The results aren't public because of privacy, but the athletes know them. It IS an unfair condition for muscular development, whether it's due to nature or supplied artificially. Boxing is the worst scenario because it implies hard physical contact between the athletes, and it's not only about winning a contest, it's about safety for the opponent.

Marchand/Milak absolutely lived up to expectations. Amazing. That final turn and 50 was unreal. Then to come back and do the 200 breaststroke and break the Olympic record Bananas. And Ledecky breaking her record from 3 years ago was huge given some of her recent fortunes. That 800m race should be interesting. And then that motherfucker breaking the 100m world record for the second time in the meet against that stacked field by a body length in this supposedly slow pool. the fucking drug testers will be knocking down his door.

Mens gymnastics was crazy too. Another mad finish down to the wire between China and Japan. Some nasty looking falls too. And Danielle Collins being a complete cunt to Iga too What a character.

As predictable, Angela Carini retired after getting two punches from Imane Khelif, the athlete with high testosterone levels. She said she felt too much pain and decided she didn't want to risk serious injuries. Keep in mind Angela had 83 previous victories, so she's an expert boxer.

gonna be funny when imane inevitably loses and everyone starts to go quiet about this whole ‘situation’. not saying it’ll happen in the olympics as she seems to be a highly touted prospect, but it’ll happen.
not gonna pretend that i follow womens boxing at a deep level, but a quick look at her boxrec page and she doesn’t seem like some powerhouse that’s wiping the floor with every opponent. it’s womens boxing paired with being in the amateur scene, so obvi there won’t be many tkos/kos, but there’s quite a few SD’s and MD’s sprinkled in there. and a lot of the wins have been over low tier prospects. the last two top tier boxers she’s fought have ended up in losses (broadhurst and harrington). you’d have to go back and actually watch her fights to see if she has a crazy advantage like people are saying, but i doubt any of us are going to go and do that. so a quick 5 minute boxrec review will have to do lmao.
seems like she’s set to face surmeneli in the semifinals if both get past the next round, so let’s see if that fight is competitive as surmeneli would be one of those top tier boxers that imane has seemed to ‘struggle’ with.

In all Olympic swimming history, only 3 people have won 4 (or more) individual golds at a single games. Tonight, Leon Marchand can join the club. EDIT: NVMD, IT'S TOMORROW...

The force of the punch is 160% in the second case.

The force of the punch is 160% in the second case. according to boxrec her ko ratio is 13.5%, which isn’t even 1% higher than surmeneli. there’s a russian in the top 5 that has a 30% ko ratio and two other women in the top 10 with a better ko ratio than imane. other than a girl who was making her debut (and still only fight to this day), the last time one of her fights didn’t go the distance was in middle of 2022. with all the outrage you’d think she was going in there and one punching every other fighter lol. that’s just not the case. again i hate going off these surface level stats as there’s way more to knockout ability than just ‘punching power’ (quality of opponents, accuracy, output, etc) especially with amateur boxing where knockouts aren’t as common, but the online anger over this seems pretty dramatic.
