Trump has no policies so there isn't really anything to discuss. He's made public statements supporting both sides of just about every major political issue. All Trump cares about is himself and power, and he showed the lengths he's willing to go to get it after the last election. His "platform" consists of a few bullet points on his website that say things like "NEW AND UNPRECEDENTED LEVELS OF SUCCESS" (yes, it's in all caps). Harris is a standard center left American liberal along the lines of Obama or the Clintons. Nothing new so also nothing to really discuss, we've seen it all before. Republicans are just screaming "COMMUNIST" at her like they do when they encounter anyone to the left of Ted Cruz or something. The Republicans are a joke party for people who have been pulled into Trump's relatively issueless personality cult or who just hate the Dems so much that they're willing to vote for a clown like Trump. And as I've noted a few times, I say this as someone who has relatively center right political views. Voted for Romney in 12, would have voted for McCain in 08 , Bush in 2000 without hindsight, I think Reagan is a top 5 president. Would vote Tory in the UK and I'd imagine for conservative parties in most other countries where their political spectrum is to the left of ours. So I'm not a "triggered lib" or something, Trump is just an insane conman who has turned our entire political process into a farce. You need both major parties to be reasonable and run a serious campaign to get a good dialogue going. Great post. He's a bonafide loser. The only thing he cares about is being a dictator and if he has a huge number of worshippers. In 16 or 20 maybe I'd have voted third party if they'd nominated Sanders but after that not only will I never vote for Trump I'll vote for anyone who runs against him. |

Great post. It genuinely boggles the mind that a reasonable, intelligent human being could actually believe that Harris (or Biden) could be "just as bad" as Donald fucking Trump. It is sad to me that this election is even close.
Trump was a very bad president. Historians have him ranked in the bottom 3. Even Republican historians have him ranked in the 40s range.
There is just so much wrong with him -- the rhetoric, the incompetent job performance, the bigotry, the scandals. We have a candidate who sexually assaulted, sexually abused, defamed, and injured a woman. We have a candidate who was found liable for massive property and banking fraud. We have a candidate who created 34 false business entries in order to cover up financial crimes committed by Michael Cohen. We have a candidate who tried to steal a presidential election and throw out ballots in heavy urban areas, and encouraged an insurrection.
I think Biden did a decent job as President and was marred by a divided congress and senate. I think Harris is a decent torch carrier for Biden. Our country made great progression from 2020 -- got out of a recession and pandemic. I mostly blame the progression from 2020 on the spirit of the American people. Some credit goes to Biden.
What I find most fascinating is that Harris and Walz have found ways to beat the GOP at their own game. Walz calling MAGA "weird" has gotten under their skin. Harris' crowd size is even bigger than Trump.

As I'm not American, I came here to know more about the different ideas of the candidates to presidency. I'm interested in their programs, but the only things I've learnt about is the use of mascara of someone (and if a man wants to wear mascara for Halloween or in his everyday life, it's his business), someone who cheated about his veteran past (and I don't understand the details either), and a tiff between Trump and Harris to determine who is uglier. Frankly, this thread is seriously disappointing. You have seriously overestimated the intelligence of the average American citizen. Especially the kind that rot their brains talking about movies. As for me, I'm having a GREAT time starting a firestorm over the two least attractive presidential candidates of all time!  |

The answer is simple: There are ZERO truly reasonable or intelligent human beings who actually believe that. Reality is too depressing for some people to accept without feeling like they're being "too negative", but the awful truth is a LARGE percentage of people are braindead and/or malicious garbage willfully ruining the world. And therein lies the explanation for Trump supporters and many other social cancers. |

Don't forget a woman filed a lawsuit against him where she accused him of raping her at 13. Hopefully, she has the courage to tell her story. I don't think his supporters will care about that though. I do believe though that they would care if he committed treason which I 100% believe he did. Hopefully, that drops in October. |

Some people online were mad at the criminal justice stuff but libertarians have always supported that kind of thing, Ron Paul criticized qualified immunity and for profit prisons. That's what's supposed to separate libertarians from just being Republicans who like pot. Read about this and if the "clever games" was the NOTA situation they should have voted for his opponent instead of NOTA if they were serious about stopping him. There's a few things I disagree with in your post (Palin was on the McCain ticket, not a very centre-right pick), but I seriously have to question this: why vote Tory lol? It's not even an ideological thing about left or right, they're just hopelessly shit at governing and have zero principles or vision. If you're centre-right, you could sensibly vote libdem as a viable alternative. The Tories are just a bankers club of ex-Etonians, drenched in cronyism, corruption, and sleaze. If you care about taxes, Tories are the type of party who would raise them while cutting social services for the disabled. It's not a serious party. |

And don't play stupid, do you think Trump has a plan for Ukraine other than halting funds and threatening them into conceding land? It's a war of attrition now and Ukraine have made it clear they have no intention of conceding, so it's a war for Russia to lose - not if, but when. Strongarming them in negotiations won't do anything other than hurt Ukraine's sovereignty, which is why Harris will continue the policy of Biden and Europe of providing financial and military support. These are the options and everyone knows these are the options. |
