I mean, ultimately that's the thing of it. Having done this same series for the actors for years, there is an awful lot of "propping/sinking" and vote maneuvering that comes into play. Someone sees Coppola hit 99 and they don't want to see anyone top him, for instance. (That said, I would personally consider rejecting a vote that I can tell was done exclusively because of who they beat; Carol Reed didn't deserve that low a score just because he beat Kubrick.)

It's really the downside to doing a poll where the results are made public as it goes on. I feel like if you did it exclusively via DM and didn't post the results until all the years were in, the rankings would be substantially different (but then, you'd have people cry foul at having to trust a single vote tabulator, so you can't win there, either).

For the record, the first film that could have gotten 100 was No Country for Old Men and I gave that film a 10. Somebody else sank it.
