ok so i don't really have much to say about it (i'm just not good at that, sorry) only that the story was rather written like a conventional thriller that didnt really grab me, but apart from that, the really overwhelming emotions and feelings that come with the story and that are rattling and gnawing at the very core: crushing feelings, such as grief, coping with the loss of a child and the all-consuming everlasting sadness that has become your entire life now. a darkness that is drifting and bleeding into every scene, every shot, into every second of the film's runtime. that is really powerful stuff that slays. however this film impressed me even more on another rather technical level: the two central performances. it's been some hours and i'm still deeply moved. i've never seen Anne Hathaway this good before and Jessica Chastain is her usual top-level iconic self acting-wise (you know, simplier put, she's brilliant, as always) and, despite of the generic thriller elements, that's exactly what made me end up loving this film on the whole and why i cant stop thinking about it now. how about you?
