(not ranked) Lilja 4-everKeane Shocked by how this is missing on most lists (I also adore Keane btw)- Lilja 4-ever is as obvious for "best" on such a list as any movie of that era could be (?) - Memento, Oldboy, Mulholland Drive etc.........I know people find it hard to watch but .......well you kinda should.......best child peformance ever? I think she was 15 or 14 iirc.........astonishing movie in every way.......  |

I think she was 15 or 14 iirc.........astonishing movie in every way....... i can only second that, thank you. this is a film that i won't (want to) rewatch a lot of times but which will stay with me for the rest of my life regardless bc the things it depicts will sadly and heartbreakingly always be part of our reality, and bc watching it crushed my soul into a thousand pieces years ago and i'm still picking up the pieces trying to put it all back together. it's also an important film, not only for me, but for humanity as a whole. it will open the eyes of many people to the devastating fact that sextrafficking and sexual slavery is happening every day to thousands and thousands of children and women in the unknown yet amidst our society and i urge everyone who hasn't seen this film to watch it. everyone who is up for it, that is, bc CW i can imagine it can be very triggering to those who are directly affected by sextrafficking/slavery/sexual abuse. and yes, Oksana Akinshina is phenomenal here and i agree, it's one of the very best child performances i've ever seen. |
