I detest this movie, but aside from not having the sense to realize what a piece of shit he'd written I don't know that I take much issue with his direction in any other way.

Nothing that special but I agree with Mike about the tone, and that aspect is more important to this movie than the visuals and stuff like that. He's able to create a comedic tapestry that feels believable - a crucial thing for the latter part of the movie to work. And I think it works. A win is a bit too much (Bergman's grin on the Youtube thumbnail is perfect) but he did a decent job.
