I have some memory of this being a thread topic back on IMDb at some point, but I'm curious what people would say now.
PTA admits that if he were to make the movie today, he'd have cut 45 minutes from it. So if you absolutely had to take an axe to it, what storylines/characters would you eliminate?

I don't think I would eliminate any stories, but I would give some of them a little trim. It's still the best movie Anderson made.

I would happily cut Moore because she is giving a bad performance, and I do think that you can maybe get away with a little less Macy, too.

I like Moore's performance, but her role is the most superfluous to proceedings. I wouldn't cut them, but I'd probably trim Macy and the Stanley kid as well.
