There has been ten Planet of the Apes films. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the follow-up to 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes and the fourth of the 21st century reboot series.

The four Planet of the Apes sequels in 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1973 all received mixed reactions and no Oscar nominations.

The reception has been positive. It opened last week with a 58 million opening domestic box-office, and we will see if it hits the 200 million mark. You can officially make this down as a "hit". But the question is, how many Oscar nominations? All three of the previous Planet of the Apes films scored a best visual effects nomination. Does the tradition continue?
