They seem to be keeping it alive with their promotional material.

Oh thank you for that detailed explanation. What else do you want me to say-- they're promoting the blu ray release You just liked the film, and hoped it does well Fox is rushing the Spielberg film out, and they still have Murder on Orient Express and Greatest Showman at the end of the year

If 'The Greatest Snowman' is really the flop everyone says It's gonna be. Then I would FUCKING LOVE to see Hugh Jackman nominated for Best Actor. But I doubt It will happen.

I think they will push for it, but I don't the Academy will react to it sadly.

Deadpool was a massive success story and a huge comback narrative for Reynolds (783m WW on a 58m budget compared to 611m WW on 97m budget for Logan) It scored 2 Globe noms, WGA, and PGA-- unlikely for Logan

It also a deep emotional element that Deadpool didn't have that would play well with the Academy. Adapted Screenplay is apparently a wasteland, PGA has been completely open to blockbuster films and even small sci/fi films like Ex Machina. I take your point on the Golden Globes since Deadpool was comedy but I think you underestimate the content in the film itself and a narrative that can be written for Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart ending their 17 year X-Men career that has built their careers.

Yeah, but PGA rewards blockbusters that are massive success, and take away the whole Jackman narrative, and it grossed good numbers but not even close to the highest X-Men films Ex Machina was an indie breakout that won VFX, got a screenplay nom, and Vikander even got precursor nominations for it The film is good, but I don't think the industry will care all that much about this being Jackman's last Wolverine film-- I don't see him happening anywhere but Comedy Globe for Greatest Showman

I could see Fox give it a good campaign considering Deadpool had some awards success last year and Logan was a greater critical success with a stronger pedigree behind it.

Wait who is saying Showman is a flop? The Oscars are a year from Logan's premiere so that's one obstacle but it's June and something keeps happening every week week that keeps that movie fresh in memory - just this week RT did some adjusted voting thing and chose Logan as the greatest CBM of all time For me the only obstacle to seriously have hope that they will get nominations is Showman but if it's a flop...then showman could be the push for Logan and not the other way around. It would be so lovely for the movie just to get nominations though it does deserve wins.

It screened a few days ago, and word was not strong Either way, Fox is also rushing out Spielberg as well, so I think they'll remain primarily focused on that and getting all the screeners ready in time

I think it will have a greater appeal to the Academy's tastes, but Logan is not a phenomenon like Deadpool was. It's better than Deadpool, but not nearly as popular and I think that helped that film quite a bit.
