I don't what that kind of Civil War drop-off really says about the passion for US politics, wish fullfillment, US film tastes or the death of the movie industry but it's probably not great all the way around tbh........

Well, if it makes you feel better, it's one of the more higher grossing non IP films so far this year. That doesn't say much about the state of the box office, though...

My big takeaway is how humdrum The Ministry Of Ungentemanly Warfare is opening. Honestly, the experiment to keep trying to make Henry Cavill a "movie star" needs to end. I'm not sure any other actor has gotten this many opportunities to show they are a movie star/box office draw. He's not a major box office draw. How many chances can one guy get? They are trying to reboot Highlander with him as well, but I can even see that underperforming. Cavill is a streaming or TV star. Or solid support to an actual movie star ( like he was with Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible-Fallout). Audiences won't rush to the cinemas to buy a ticket for the next Henry Cavill movie. I'm saying all this, and next week they'll probably announce he's been cast as James Bond, which will give him another 20 years of lead movie opportunities .

The Witcher was the one time it really worked, and he left that because of script issues.

Civil War's gross will actually be respectable. Will be A24's second highest grossing movie.
