These performances in my opinion make me feel like these guys were so old they were somewhat unrecognizable from the guy that I got used to for the majority of their careers.
I pick Stewart and Olivier...the only ones I call great here. Nicholson was funny. And Brando was enjoyable...I liked the build up to his character.....and the kinda campy caricature nature of it...in a good way!
I thought Pacino was fine. And I dont care much for DeNiro. That's my ranking anyways.

James Stewart was only like 50 in Vertigo so that doesn't really fit imo

Btw - one of the things I'm pretty sure that DePac would agree on is Hopkins in THe Father is THE great over 80 performance........I saw Langella in that play (opposite Kathryn Erbe) and I bet Pacino maybe thought he could have played that (especially since he's a lot "like" Langella in several ways)

I feel like I'm the only one who takes Brando in Apocalypse Now seriously. Not "campy" or "lol he ate a fly/didn't give a foot when filming" but a pretty scary and fascinating creature.

And I never knew Hopkins was placed at a level of those 6^ Not quite for me .........but some might put him that high........ Javi is a big fan.......Hopkins has the latest breakthrough for any actor .......all 6 of his nods are after 50.........he is an odd guy when you try to rank him tbh.......but yeah not at the level of those other guys usually |
