I don't often post about animated shows ( Blood Of Zeus is the only one I've created a thread for, though Invincible deserves one as well, and I may get round to it), but X-Men '97 has created such an almighty buzz on social media in the last few days, that it's tough to resist this. To the point, where one of the basketball GOATs LeBron James is asking where to watch it. I've seen this first 2 episodes of this show. If you believe the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Superhero genre are dying and on it's last legs ( which I do), this reboot of a 90"s Saturday morning cartoon show just might be the thing to save both the MCU and the entire genre in live action.
It's so well written, with stunning action sequences and inventive use of powers, that this is the clear template for any new live-action MCU iteration of the X-Men ( that doesn't need Wolverine as the focal character. There's a universal appeal to this show. It's got clearly adult themes and situations that appeal to adults, but nothing too extreme that prevents younger viewers from watching and enjoying on a different level. This series shows other characters like Storm and Cyclops can carry the story). This show is the way back in for the MCU with audiences. A live action rendition that's more like this than the Fox Movies, is a license to make a billion dollars at the box office. So make no mistake, this cartoon is a huge deal for the future of an entire studio and maybe the entire film industry. Currently 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 34 reviews.

Gotta dig into this one soon. This sounds like the perfect blend of the original somewhat cheesy 90s Saturday Morning Cartoon aspect, and more modern storytelling techniques.

Damn, that was brutal. Can't appreciate enough how dark this show is so willing to get. A+ so far; maybe only note is that I wish these episodes were longer. Yeah....this is some dark shit indeed. Incredibly well done though. And it really is reigniting a lot of goodwill for Marvel on social media. They need to just skip straight to the live action X-Men films and follow this shows template and they'll probably be back on top. It's insane that they fired the main writer and showrunner Beau Demayo, just before the show premiered, because he's delivered the most resounding success Marvel have seen in awhile, and should probably have been given the chance to be a lead writer/producer on the live action films. It's very unclear why he was fired as well as no one has given a reason ( though it's speculated that it's because he had an explicit Onlyfans account). If it's nothing criminal and a forgivable misdeameanour, Marvel should probably rehire this man pronto and give him a pay rise ( like they did when James Gunn was fired). Back to the episode though. Almost reminded me of an animated version of the infamous Red Wedding episode of Game Of Thrones. So No Spoilers yet.

Griffin Schiller, critic for Playlist & contributer at Awardswatch:
He ain't wrong. And if I was Kevin Fiege and Marvel, I'd start moving quick to patch things up with DeMayo, because when you've made something this acclaimed and beloved, he won't be out of a job for long. Warners/DC will probably do exactly what they did with James Gunn, and hire him for their stuff.
