After seeing people refer to Oppenheimer’s success as Nolan’s “Schindler’s List moment” (acclaimed prestige drama that nets its director his first Oscar win after years of blockbuster genre fare), I find it fitting that not only did Spielberg present the award, but also the film received the same number of Oscars as Schindler’s List overall. Also, I will always laugh at myself for being so confident at the beginning of last year that it wouldn’t win BP after I had predicted Interstellar and Dunkirk to win BP early on in their years before eventually accepting that they weren’t happening.

Yeah, this was an okay ceremony. Glazer's GOATED speech was the highlight for me. And honestly, the only real important moment of the night. Zionists are freaking out about his speech and deliberately misquoted him (shocking!) to make it sound like he was renouncing his identity when he did no such thing. Variety misquoted him and corrected it when people pointed out the egregious error.

Poor Things sweep in some minor categories means only one thing. Lily Gladstone is winning. What did you mean by this?

Oh dear. Well, at least you're not trying to pretend anymore . One more random attack, and it's blockity block! Personally I thought it was pretty low effort, obvious bait and yet you still took it hook, line and sinker.

Of course it was obvious bait I took it so we could just to get it out in the open about what you doing and so I could let you know that I don't find you interesting or conversationally adroit enough to put up with it indefinitely. Just making things crystal clear and all that. We both accomplished our objectives, so well done us

Chris Nolan btw was very sweet to Pacino - hugged him deeply ..........in the way you hug your slightly drunk, slightly suffering from dementia Grandpa.......Nolan in every way acts the part now of distinguished auteur from once the boy wonder filmmaker .......it's hard to explain but the way he carries himself this whole season has been cool.........

Maybe they should check beforehand if the presenters are up to the task, Al seemed lost on that stage.
Also wasn't Michelle Pfeiffer announced to present with him? What happened?
Overall the best show in years. The Gosling/Blunt, Schwarzenegger/De Vito/Keaton and Cena bits were fun, even Kimmel wasn't bad, and then that GOAT performance by Ryan on top.

I don't really find Gosling all that special in Barbie but he really was a very good sport to go all in at the ceremony. He should win a Grammy for that number (if that's possible).
Billie Eilish's live vocals also really elevated an otherwise ok song. She's such a talented singer.

Well, glad for winners. Really glad Nolan got his Oscar. He deserves it.
Wish it was number one for year though. Ugh, I still hope we get number 1 gross and best pic winner this decade.
How about Da'vine going from scene stealer in Dolomite to winner in no time.

So much respect for Glazer, courageous for not only explicitly draw parallels with current events but to call out the way the historical memory of the Shoah is manipulated for political gain. I just hope it isn't another 10 year wait for his next project.
And respect for based Pacino not giving a fuck lol. Everyone knew Oppenheimer was winning, no point dragging it out.

She couldn't go because she had some family issues to deal with. Was she actually slated to present Best Picture with Pacino? That is usually 1 presenter - and it was the 50th anniversary of The Godfather Part 2. Al Pacino presents Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars. Pacino was initially set to present Best Picture with Michelle Pfeiffer in a planned Scarface reunion, though EW confirmed that Pfeiffer had to drop out due to a family emergency.

Also that only applies if they don't have a hook - the Scarface reunion this year WAS the hook with Pfeiffer dropping out ........I mean in 1995 it was co-stars......who were the hook......the 50th anniversary of Godfather 2 is just another "big thing".....he's got a lot of big things like that because he's Al Pacino ffs

She was meant to present Best Picture with Harrison Ford, but got Covid.

This is pretty disgraceful! How do you miss these people out. (Edit: Apparently, they were all on the big list of names at the end. But the likes of Treat Williams and Lance Reddick were significant enough as film actors to be part of the photo/video montage. Williams for Prince Of The City alone, and Reddick was a key character in one of the most popular action movie franchises of this century, John Wick).Even allowing that they were listed, you could barely read them because they were only presented in a wide shot of the stage. I've gotten real sick of the way the In Memoriam has been produced these last few years. Just cut together a nice montage and press play ffs, what was so terrible about that.

Those are pretty awful numbers. Even with much more popular nominees the ratings only grew marginally.

Those are pretty awful numbers. Even with much more popular nominees the ratings only grew marginally. People's viewing habits and the way they choose to watch things have changed massively in the last 20 years. There could be millions of viewers who are watching the Oscars on an unofficial Twitch Stream, and those viewers will never be counted . I think it's impossible these days to get the ccomplete picture of how many people are watching the Oscars just by the broadcast telecast ratings.

While that is true in relation to the 2000s, viewing habits haven’t changed that much since the 2010s. Streaming platforms were all available then but in 2014 the viewership was over 40 million.
