I'm gonna be following intently this time, because Queen Jessica could get her 3rd Oscar.... that'll be sweet. In my fantasy mind, I want it to be Zendaya vs Jessica, but I realize how much of a challenge for an April release to be nominated for Best Actress unless it's a landmark movie, or if she's just that good or that well liked. I think Ronan's gonna swoop in and take the Oscar tho. It feels like it's pre-programmed unless Jessica is just that good. I'm not some Oscar predictions guru, so as Adele would say.... go easyyyy on me if I seem to not know my stuff.

Long Day's Journey Into Night isn't even done filming, and there's no sign it's going to resume any time soon as per Lange's interview.
I am seeing a strong pathway for Saoirse, given that she's got two big projects coming out this year and her Sundance raves are winner-level. She just has to maintain momentum and not get derailed in the process.
That said, these are the performances I've got my eye on so far this year, for both awards and in general:
• Amy Adams - Nightbitch • Juliette Binoche - Queen at Sea • Cate Blanchett - Father Mother Sister Brother • Cate Blanchett - Rumors • Michaela Coel - Mother Mary • Olivia Colman - Wicked Little Letters • Marion Cotillard - La tour de glace • Andra Day - The Deliverance • Ryan Destiny - Flint Strong • Daisy Edgar-Jones - Voyagers • Cynthia Erivo - Wicked Part 1 • Aisling Franciosi - Stopmotion • Isabelle Huppert - My New Friends • Angelina Jolie - Maria • Regina King - Shirley • Jessica Lange - Long Day’s Journey Into Night • Mikey Madison - Anora • Rooney Mara - La cocina • Julianne Moore - Echo Valley • Julianne Moore - The Room Next Door • Brandy Norwood - The Front Room • Florence Pugh - We Live in Time • Saoirse Ronan - Blitz • Saoirse Ronan - The Outrun • June Squibb - Thelma • Kristen Stewart - Love Lives Bleeding • Tilda Swinton - The End • Tilda Swinton - The Room Next Door • Anya Taylor-Joy - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga • Kate Winslet - Lee • Zendaya - Challengers

I live on the opposite coast so no go for me....but I would love to see her on stage! I can totally see Gaga winning...theyll say she was born to play the part and Robbie is gonna be forgotten in the role like Berry is forgotten for playing Catwoman. They need a counterpart to a frontrunner like Blanchett was Yeohs counterpart and Stone is Gladstones counterpart. With Jessica out of the picture, Ronan should be happy she's getting a lighter field. Also....LMAO did I just see Brandy's name as an Oscar contender

Wondering if Jolie could pull a Zellweger and win lead for a "comeback" biopic role years after her supporting actress win.

Curious if it isn't done filming or if its filmed but no post production or anything has been done, because looking at the interview, Lange only said that it wasn't finished, while the NY Times annotation only says its production was halted and restarted. Meanwhile a different part of the interview has Lange saying about the role "I played her in London, I played her on Broadway, and then we filmed it," which may point to the latter case. Maybe its just me hoping and in denial, as I'm really looking forward to this one and it being filmed but not edited feels like a better spot to be in than filming not even having been finished yet.

It will be her 5th nomination and she's at a good age and a point in her career to win.

She definitely would've been a threat to Ronan in a role that she won a Tony for, and she's reprising. You can bet she can overtake Ronan. Tho it seems like she's out of contention so Ronan gets.... Gaga as a main rival I think.

But fact remains it is much harder to win a 3rd Oscar. It is also harder for someone to win in their 70's.

There's another thing in play also and that is - in modern times its VERY hard to win Best Actor / Actress for a famous play, much less a 3rd for a famous play........I saw Lange give this Long Day's Journey performance on stage and she won that Tony (her 1 win so far) because she was extremely disciplined and technical - which is something that was kind of shocking to see from her given her stage rep prior............but the role has been played before and well so getting an Academy Award win is tougher it seems......it's a lot like Denzel Washngton in Fences and whlle I knew he'd win the Tony - I never thought for 1 second that he'd win the Oscar over Affleck ....I'm not even saying it's purposeful actually, it's just subliminal or some shit.........Fences had been played well before etc ..........so Tony always awards roles often but Oscar not so much Lange is also a film remake .........it is tough to pull off It isn't always true though.......Anthony Hopkins did it a couple years back and he beat a guy who was trying to do it himself (Boseman) In general though, the more famous the stage role - it seems - the harder it is to win an Oscar for it these days because "it's been played well by others"

Just that guy ^doesn't seem to know the power of Jessica Lange. She is a EGGOT. As in... she has an Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar, and Tony. Streep is only an EGGO.... no Tony. Lange absolutely slays..... and yeah, since she has that Tony over Streep....... in her 60s.... you can argue she'll still slaying. Lange has 2 Emmy wins since Streep won her last Emmy for acting, so you can argue who's more relevant. Not to mention, her Emmy loss for Feud lots of people thought she should've won. Who thought Streep was robbed for Big Little Lies? Nobody.

If she wins that 2nd Tony she'll be tied with Maggie Smith with 7 Triple Crown wins most for females or males .......- she is singular in how she came to her acting career through things like photography, fashion, dance, mime etc............she may be the most interesting American actor - male or female - to discuss.........maybe ever..........I see her influence all the time..........here's that recent interview I posted a couple days back if you haven't seen it........fascinating stuff www.vulture.com/article/jessica-lange-in-conversation.html

Actually, you did claim that Lange can overtake Ronan and that Ronan should be happy that Lange isn't in the race. I said it is harder to win a 3rd Oscar and also harder for someone in their 70's to win. I'm not sure why you are so bothered with that. For the record the G in EGOT is for Grammy - not Golden Globe. Anyone going around posting things like "Queen Jessica" - is a fanboy.

Oh please, it's not like no one here ever has mis-spoked. And it's not like I kept going on about it. I do stand by the part about him always been more on the peripheral when it comes to the Academy. That said, Congratulations to soon-to-be Academy Award winning director Chris Nolan!

But I'm not going to go there, it's petty and juvenile. Because it's not all that serious. If "Queen Jessica" wins, that's fine. And if she doesn't, life will go on.

I wasn't laughing because you were mistaken about Nolan, just about you claiming you didn't keep going on about it in that thread, that's all.

Maybe don’t try the “super fan” line again… People can predict people they like. I also remember you saying people were also not predicting Gerwig and Robbie just because they didn’t like Barbie. Maybe stop acting like everybody is bias except you lol.
