--- NOTE --- This poll is about the nominating stage, as in: what would the BP lineup look like under the old 5-movie system. Just to avoid confusion.
The 2012 results are in and can be seen above. The movie that caused the most doubts was Les Misérables. Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty got closest to the five.
And now for 2011!

I'm thinking:
- The Artist - The Descendants - Hugo - Midnight in Paris - Moneyball
The Help did very well throughout the season, especially with its SAG success and even getting in BAFTA BP, but the fact that it didn't get anything besides acting (not even adapted screenplay!) makes me think that it only had actors' support. While Moneyball did well in all fields (singling it out under the assumption that the other four movies were safe).

The Artist, The Help, Hugo, Midnight, Tree of Life.
Tree of Life was huge that season. That's the Bradd Pitt movie that would have got in.

Tree of Life was huge that season. That's the Bradd Pitt movie that would have got in. Not sure if I can agree with that at all - critics supported it but it missed pretty much all guilds and didn't get a single BAFTA mention. Its Oscar nom haul wasn't that bountiful either. It was huge among cinephiles but I don't see any sign of that being the case with the industry. Whereas Moneyball - certainly a contender with much broader appeal - did very well during the season, and was a financial success too. Not sure how The Descendants would've missed either.

The Artist The Descendants The Help Hugo Midnight in Paris
The Help came within spitting distance of having 2 acting wins (one of whom swept the season), won SAG Ensemble, and got nods at PGA and BAFTA so it had some backing outside of just actors.

The Artist The Descendants The Help Hugo Midnight in Paris
Malick feels like the quintessential lone director nominee here.
