Please correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s my understanding that Gabriel Axel winning the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film over Louis Malle was quite controversial? Candice Bergen was certainly not happy, at any rate. Which of these films do you personally prefer: Denmark’s submission or France’s?

Was it controversial? First time I've heard about it. I believe it's generally regarded as a pretty great winner. I mean, it's a beloved film.
NOT BY ME THOUGH. I'll take Les Enfants any day of the week.

Even if I like Les enfants, I think Babette was more original and unusual.
