8.5. I really liked it more on revisiting it post-The Favourite, when Lanthimos finally clicked with me.

I think The Favourite is a (slightly) better film overall, but this one fits more into my sensibilities. Colin Farrell is a perfect match for Lanthimos's style and humor. It also put the world on notice that Barry Keoghan is a force to be reckoned with for a long time to come.

Maybe a 5. Only film of his I straight up dislike. Shot nicely, was great to see Alicia Silverstone back in screen (but horrifying to wonder what kind of man she’d have to mate with to produce a son that looked like that) and Keoghan’s Woody Allen crossed with Itchy the Mouse performance might be my favourite supporting actor turn of the year, but overall this thing just irritated the shit out of me.

7.5 .......I guess or rounds down to itThere's a lot to like.............It's one of those movies like Banshees of Inisherin or Heart of Glass - where it doesn't make "realistc" sense but makes parable, fabalistic, symbolic sense...........still so much of it plays on realism it doesn't quite ring as true as those 2 other, better films Keoghan is brilliant here in the way people wrongly think he was in Saltburn ......great scene btw:

4. Deal-breaker stuff.
Nowhere is his lack of humanity and fascination with degration more on display than here. A well-lit failure at symbolism and wanting to be taken very seriously with every stare and every line but OH-if you found it funny he still did right cause that's the point you see! It's all part of this dark-shit-humor mAn...

For about thirty seconds, Barry had me convinced I had been eating spaghetti wrong my whole life.

10/10 - definitely my favorite Lanthimos. Could never decide if it's one of the funniest creepy movies ever made or one of the creepiest funny movies and Lanthimos' detached directing and the chilly disaffected dialogue makes the film feel like its operating in a different dimension.
how to solve this very specific curse: 1. Tooth of a baby crocodile 2. Blood of a pigeon 3. Pubes of a virgin 4. Burn them all before sunset!
