Which of these middling, paint-by-numbers Oscar bait biopics did you dislike less? Do you have a preference performance-wise? JangoB:

I thought Nyad was less dull, less paint by numbers, felt marginally less seen it all before, and I really liked Foster and Ifans in it. Rustin felt to me like it went on forever. I just looked it up and apparently it's not even two hours? I don't buy that for a second.
That said, if you haven't seen too many movies and its every waking moment doesn't feel like a chore of a cliche to get through, I feel like Rustin might actually be a slightly better movie.

I made it to the end of Nyad, which is more than I can say for Rustin.

Both aren't great, so Rustin wins on merit of not having an obnoxious main character.

Both aren't great, so Rustin wins on merit of not having an obnoxious main character. The worst thing there is they show that footage of the real woman at the end and she seems like (in public appearances, of course) a genuinely charismatic woman and a total blast, and in the movie she's just..........

Rustin wins by default because Domingo smokes Bening but both are pointless flavorless films. The night after I watched Rustin I actually dreamt that the march wasn't actually the ending and there was more substance to the story, but then I sadly woke up and remembered it's literally just about one guy organizing one march.

Nyad was mediocre but at least it had a tiny element of camp to it with the stupid Taj Mahal stuff, and the obnoxiousness of its titular figure gave it a liiiiiiittle bit of a spark. Rustin, on the other hand, is basically unwatchable. I just finished it and holy mackerel... Garbage like this is as harmful to cinema as capeshit. Maybe even more so.

I kind of liked Nyad. Didn't need the acting nominations it got, but the performances are solid and it's a good script. Direction is a bit pedestrian and made for TV but that's always the case with those kinds of movies.
Rustin is fine. Feels like a bit of a history lesson of a movie but the acting is good. Not going to watch either of these again but if you were going to make me I'd go with Nyad I guess.

The question should be: "which is the faker movie?"

Still haven’t seen Rustin (and this thread isn’t helping) but Nyad was bottom 10 of the year for me.

Just saw Rustin. Holy fuck that was bad. Nyad is extremely pedestrian but not nearly as dire as the other one.
