Please, share your thoughts on her. What do you think are her best performances? I love how natural she is as a performer. Her greatest quality is how well she "blends" into a production or an ensemble - it really does feel like she "lives" in her films. Strangely enough, I think this may well also be why she seems to be taken for granted? She makes it look so easy. I have a hard time choosing between Carrie, Coal Miner's Daughter, and In the Bedroom as her best - they're all so wonderful, rich, and different.

The greatest living actress and my second all-time favourite after Geraldine Page (although if you ask me on another day, Sissy might take the crown). Genuinely, this woman can do it all: she can play shy and demure, she can play bold and brassy, she can play sweet angels and searing demons. Her unassuming nature is her greatest weapon, because she can bring a truly seismic performance out of fucking nowhere if required, but she is also the quintessential stage partner where she can act with anyone and make you feel there's years of chemistry there.

A great actress who is almost entirely devoid of ego and artifice - which is necessary for an actor - certainly a great one. She has no element of "put on" or "brand" or actorly ego.......certainly no one at her level can replicate that particular attribute. I can't think of any actor like her .......you never feel lke she is conning you or tricking / manipulating you Last time I saw her was opposite Dustin Hoffman no less - in an annoying, trifle of a movie with their kids (her daughter is lovely too) and yet there she was wonderful again..........effortlessly so..........everybody knows her big movies but watching this nothing movie - late in her life - was in a way kind of eye-opening and sweet

Her ability to let her eyes do the talking is unparalleled. She could make everything look like a documentary.
I would love to see her play a villain/boss from hell though. She doesn't seem to have done that kind of role to my knowledge.
