In MAR and places of it's kind... we hav filmBROs and not "film-sis(es)"... Do females genuinely disscuss this stuff less than males? grow tired of it and leave sooner? Have more active social lives to check places like this more often than men? Is this even a valid question? ( Reflecting on this since a female user mentioned this a while ago; trying to defend barbs...and indeed I realized we don't have a lot of 'em.)

* Probably it's my fault - everyone just blames me for everything anyway - my politics has driven this board crazzzzzzzzzzzzy (um), racism, sexism, Denzel not being "THE GOAT" (he's not), being this boards "Piers Morgan" in relation to the Royal Family , "Karen" being a racist term (it is), not defending Adele Haenel for being a quitter - pfffft ......... not admitting Taraji P.Henson is "a star" (she's not) who deserves many millions (she doesn't)...... all of it ..........pacinoyes' fault.................... ban his ass * In general, message boards and internet culture - particularly movie culture is a dude thing......"top 10 lists" (a fucking sickness tbh), "ranking things" (also a sickness btw), passionately arguing fncking marginalia related to films like Val Kilmer in Tombstone vs. DDL in TWBB - yeah, ok ...........that shit just doesn't translate to girls as much....the board and topic(s) attract dudes - and that's..........okay * Dudes tend to hammer stuff home harder so even if we had more girls here they are more likely to make their point once and not be assholes (like me tbh) * Put it this way: My guy friend will kill me if I even suggest that Celtic Frost wasn't a great metal band........and my girlfriend will kill me if I talk about The Speedways one more time......Whole different sensibilty ...... I wouldn't stay here if I was a girl.......... like Steve Martin said - I'd just play with my breasts all day ....... The theme song of MAR but it took an amazingly heteronormative man like pacinoyes to discover it for MAR didn't it? ........and that prick takes credit for everything....... constantly

I generally have no clue.
We know what girls like: hair, looks, etc. Hair is something every girl has something to say about. Hard to find a long locked woman with nothing to say about hair. And of course women care about their looks 4 times more than men.
But I've seen women partake in manly activities. Do they like football? Heck yeah they do. They get more tense than we do. But they like it more socially.... I don't usually see a woman alone on a computer and a big screen TV nerdily absorbing Sunday NFL ticket. Do they like video games? Yeah they do. Star Trekkie women? They exist.
Do men like socializing.... heck yeah they do. Men like Taytay and Barbie and Harry Potter too.
I don't know. IMDB is and has always been 90-10 men.

"ranking things" (also a sickness btw) A sickness in general? Or only when it’s a substitute for actual discussion?

This forum is not comprised of all the original OB board, which itself was already majority male but a bit more even. Some segments started splintering off even before IMDB shut down the boards into other areas, including some of the women.

(not me personally, but I know men can place huge importance on that)

"ranking things" (also a sickness btw) A sickness in general? Or only when it’s a substitute for actual discussion? Both but yes in general......"sickness" is a joke but a (mostly) male characteristic imo Ranking things has a necessary practical life purpose - ie prioritizing tasks in your work day and things like that.......but numerically ranking expressive thngs is a little odd imo.......like it makes more sense to me to rank my favorite shirts or preferences for dinner tonight rather than art It's mostly a guy thing in my experience in how it manifests itself though not always.......I do think it's a masculine "insistence" thing to compartmentalize, to structure arguments, to impose intellect........basically to conquer like most dudes

(not me personally, but I know men can place huge importance on that) Absolutely, 100 % true ^ It is very easy to become an "expert" in film in less than a year.......I mean there are not many "acknowledged classics" in English say - and the average person hasn't seen most of them pre-what 1970? It's very easy to "bluff" your way about all of Pop Culture.........and at some point in our life we were all bluffing: I mean I saw every Altman movie I could before I saw a Tarkovsky......but if you said "You're no expert you haven't even seen Tarkovsky!" , I wouldn't think I was "less" an expert .......... though I guess that's true - I could argue something.......... at some pointProjecting intellect is very much a male attribute (on message boards especially) because men lack the "nurturing" aspect - motherhood, etc. - so they overcompensate ........again this is all generalizing but it is the same thing as being an expert in wine or cigars ........it manifests itself most often - competetively - in men ......

Because women are too busy pretending to not know anything about The Godfather and to be confused about money

I can fight for hours over political stuff (and I do on Italian forum), but I won't get mad because someone doesn't see something in an actor's performance that I do, and vice versa. That's me though.
