7 /10 Fuck Canada. Why do I say that? This board once said they'd rather live in Canada than the US - yeah, ok riiiiiight - and used as their logic "life expectancy is longer in Canada" - Yeah, who gives a shit - you have to live in Canada Similarly - in a piece of Offensive Nationalist Britp(r)opaganda Hugh Grant - in ths period the great Walking Stammerer of Our Time says this : "We may be a small country, but we're a great one, too. The country of Shakespeare, Churchill, The Beatles, Sean Connery, Harry Potter. David Beckham's right foot. David Beckham's left foot, come to that".What would happen if I said this about about the US? But no.......... you all say fnck America all the time - as ibbi - a horrible, horrible man btw - says constantly under his breath for fear we may throw his precious tea in our harbor again - fnck yeah! - what do WE get in the US? A movie about shitting in a bucket and pushing socialism on us? We like to kiss too yanno in the States - inbetween our institutional racism, stealing Native American land and supporting oppression this is a joke btw - ya wackadooles - I'm not your "ally" got it? - you frighten me............and get off my lawn We're defending Churchill now? There is a chick at my local 7-Eleven who gives me the wrong change constantly while staring at her phone with a bone through her cheek and a tattoo on her face or some shit who calls him a war criminal and if given the chance would stab me in the neck and drink my blood A war criminal .......... Think about that! She's a Progressive, ok?!! She's super smart on politics and Life ok and she knows everything.......except how to give me correct change ......I really got to switch to decaf......anyhoo: * It's The Godfather Part 2 of Romantic overkill....... it's like 11 hours long.......the last time I saw it I broke a hip just by watching it..........as someone who speaks out all the time about how movies aren't romantic enough while lecturing us about blah blah blah I can't really slag off this one for being too romantic can I? It's also a better movie - and a better Christmas movie than The Preacher's Wife........and funnier btw......but then again what isn't?

It's perhaps my least favorite Richard Curtis rom-com, because some of the stories just doesn't work but still it has enough of charm, wit and a great cast to overcome them.

7 Always been surprised that it's become this modern holiday classic for the whole family despite featuring a whole storyline having to do with porn

*that's a classic pacinoyes post btw... 1st to response, like 50 lines that 3 are really addressing the movie and ending with a proper gif. love it. It's one of my mom's favorite movies for better or worse (I know, it's the latter) she loves Grant, Firth and the gals in it and wut not - and we've shared enough joy while watching it together so yeaaah I can't hate. 6. Here's a fun watch

It's just boring! I liked Nighy, seeing a young Andrew Lincoln (I was convinced he was really in love with his male friend), and Atkinson. Everything else was Lame, Actually. 4/10

3 - I really struggled to get through this film. Pretty much all the characters are annoying and it’s just so boring.

It’s become so much more fashionable to hate it in recent times, I imagine just to push back on the hype this movie once had. I don’t see why it deserves any more criticism than any other movie of this genre.
I’m giving it a 9, I hear the criticism and I don’t care lol, it’s a beautiful gem of a movie to me and it hits all the right notes so I overlook the weird one-off plot points for the overall directorial feat in emotion, chemistry, tone, atmosphere.

It's fashionable to hate this movie... but how hard do you hate it? [ Previous results] It has a nice and funny bit about my country and its people, so I could never hate it But even setting that aside, I agree with those who say it's charming and romantic (that cardboard scene is iconic for a reason) and it has a stellar cast that doesn't disappoint. I love how it doesn't seem to take itself too seriously sometimes. Somehow, it just works, mainly on a crowd-pleasing level. Watching it in theaters, back in 2003, was such a great experience.

4 I guess. One of the few movies that my wife hates with a burning passion, and she thinks I’m being generous lol. Normalizes bad relationship dynamics and power imbalances (like a lot of movies in this genre) on top of just being insufferably annoying. Also not sure I trust Taylor Swift to direct a good movie if this is her all-time favorite…

5/10.
It's fucking bonkers and only half of the storylines work to any degree, but the actors make it very watchable.

Loved it enough the only time I saw it. The Hugh Grant dance scene alone is worth it among other things. 7.5
