I mean based on his director's "snub" for A Star is Born, the fact that the voters so quickly embraced Rami Malek over him (when he started as the frontrunner), and even the way DGA voters chose Bo Burnham over him for first time feature (despite the fact that he logically should've won since he got in top five for director there), there does seem to be at least a contingent in the industry who aren't crazy about Cooper, maybe actively dislike his ego....at least we can hope.

And you saw what happened with The Power of the Dog as the season wore on. King Richard was a crowdpleaser by definition, rocking an A cinemascore, 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, and strong critical muscle. The only thing it didn't have was a strong box office but, again, COVID.

People "here" hating Will Smith had no bearing on the fact that he was consistently nominated at the regionals, and even though he lost to Cumberbatch at the big critics' prizes, he was still in the thick of it throughout the season. Those that were dismissive of Smith were more dismissive at the idea of an overdue veteran narrative being what propelled him to the win, rather than the work itself.
