Not my problem with either movie. I just thought their screenplays absolutely sucked. Little Women is my favorite film of 2019 and one of my favorite films of the past decade. Marie Antoinette is one of my favorite films of all time. Acting like people who despise the laziness of Barbie And Bottoms are misogynists is funnier than either movie. I watched Bottoms because of how much I liked Shiva Baby... Yeah - I mean Barbie is expressly about feminism - so I think you can quite logically talk about feminism if you dislike it. It's almost necessary - it's not "off-limits" - on the contrary - I shouldn't be excluded because of my enormous, freakishly large cock. You can't really throw those terms around - misogynist, racist, blah, blah, blah on someone's movie taste - or music taste - where people do it more even - too much goes into it cultrally to draw such conclusions..........usually........I suppose a review could be revealing in that way but usually.........not.

My beef has less to do with Barbie itself (I've written too much about it in it's thread as to why I don't like it) and more with the level of positive reception it's been getting, and the fact that it's director may win BD Oscar in a few months, and the audacity she has to name-drop Lubitsch and Fellini when discussing the very evidence of her sheer lack of vision... It's like the equally unremarakable Barb and Star Go to Vasta Del Mar (which is a less borthersome sisterly comedy actually but nobody speaks about that one do they?) and ranks behind Baby Bird and Little Women (by not much). It's biggest fans on this board are males btw, and our latest polling of it resulted in a better rating than I had imagined

I missed you Sophie d'aw .. but ngl there are days even now and then when i miss everyone of our dysfunctional but superfun GoT community that i lost contact with and wish we'd still have our board for all of us to hang out on as we used to. i still talk to a couple of regs on almost a daily basis on filmboards, Putin, hungry, Thirsty, sixskins, Orson a couple of the TWD people are still around, but it's just a fraction of the group we used to be. and all the fun we had, gosh dang it. *pours one for the homies we lost* happy new year, Archimaester!

Yeah - I mean Barbie is expressly about feminism - so I think you can quite logically talk about feminism if you dislike it. It's almost necessary - it's not "off-limits" - on the contrary - I shouldn't be excluded because of my enormous, freakishly large cock. You can't really throw those terms around - misogynist, racist, blah, blah, blah on someone's movie taste - or music taste - where people do it more even - too much goes into it cultrally to draw such conclusions..........usually........I suppose a review could be revealing in that way but usually.........not. as you might have noticed, i haven't used the term, not even once in that tower of a text and not bc i just forgot how to spell it, but bc i was intentionally avoiding using it. Oh yes, I know - I was speaking in general - as that has happened in the US culture in regards to Barbie. For me - Barbie didn't work (6 or so / 10 - maybe at best 6.5) but my worst of the year was Leave The World Behind ..........I don't take offense to the term "movie bros." I mean a lot of the greatest movies of all-time are "movie bros" movies........and better when seen through that perspective actually Proud movie bro here........fnck yeah who wants a beer ? I just think there's nothing inherently wrong with "not getting" a film from this lens (or these types of lenses) - I can totally see a female hating a film for being overwhelmingly "male" (Reservoir Dogs for one).......many Westerns........it's fine.........to me anyway.........and a guy not finding Barbie resonates maybe isn't a deep analysis but is valid imo I'm sure the (disturbingly) sensitive guys on this board - those who liked your posts (um just kidding / but totally not kidding) would love more females on this board but then they would have to know some irl to invite on here I guess Kidding, kidding fellas

hungry is mod and takes his job very seriously, as he always has miuahaha These are the most terrifying words I've ever read. hahahah!! ikr? but to cut him some slack, he does take off his troll suit when the show is on and turns into an utter fanboy of the show it's almost terrifying watching him discussing it wih people in a normal, civil tone. when the show is not on, he's back being his usually insult troll self and not much else. i can't stand him and never have, but it's easy to ignore him after all these years. he's like white noise to me and barely even register him. Putin, sixskins & Thirsty are still fun as they always have been. TSP is still around, too but rarely postss. Lameo was around for a while until last year and was doing great. Gin, too. Orson is still a mega douche and seems to be battling alcoholism or some shit idk. Connie i had contact with on Facebook for a long time until some time last year when he stopped coming on.. last info on Doodles and Futurekings is that they were in a relationship and she moved to Ireland but also that is long time ago. danger just poofed one day and never came back. i'm really wondering how he is doing these days bc he didnt seem very well the last time we spoke. really hope he is okay hmmm anyone else you need an update about? maybe i can help

sophiefox I think I need to lie down for a few seconds. Doodle and Future hooked up??? Wow. I guess all that steamy romantic tension wasn't a board gimmick. And damn, I miss Con, Gin, and Fuhrer. I wonder how Seaward is doing.
