Just curious about how people feel about money on MAR - since apparently many of us feel guilty about Taraji P. Henson not having more of it (that was a joke people) * Do you worry about it - a lot, a little, not at all? * Play the stock market? Gamble? * The root of all evil or the answer to your prayers (if you prayed I mean, weird atheists ) * Do you have enough to feel ok or are you so fncking broke you can't even pay attention (um) * Are you a saver or a spender? * What big things do you hope to buy next? * What do you dream of buying if you could? (For me it's a fancy tricked out 1967 GTO but when I weirdly could have done it ........I didn't ) * Do you work more than 1 job? ............as John Lennon put it, in one of the greatest Rock vocals - EVER - " I Want To Be Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

I have a steady income and not too many expenses (I still live at home, and I don't drive), so can't complain. Saving for a couple of overseas trips I have in mind for 2025/2026.

Me and my wife both make good salaries. We have a mortgage to pay and endless expenses for our 2 kids. I do plan a lot and save for retirement and their college. I have some funds in a CD where I can get a solid return and also have some long term stocks. Both me and my wife are free to spend what we want on personal wants as long as the price isn’t more than a couple hundred dollars. We’d discuss any purchases beyond that. Next major purchase will be patio furniture (had the patio put in out backyard the end of this past summer). We’re also planning on finishing our basement.
Only work one job.
Dream purchase is probably putting a home theater and bar in the basement. Maybe the Jaguar from Cruel Intentions also.

The rate of return on stocks, money markets is great right now - especially if you shop around to online banks and the stock market has had quite a comeback - it's really something the last few weeks........possibly at a peak for both of those in the short term until the Fed cuts rates..........it's a weird balance right now of high rates to undercut inflation and optimism that the Fed may soon cut those rates - maybe 2Q 2024.........for now it's this odd occurence in the market, 40aK's etc Buying a home right now in the US is probably not great until those rates come down.......

Financial stability is the only real kind of stability I have tbh
Unfortunately my job makes it really hard for me to play the stock market, which I love to do. Basically anytime I want to buy or sell a stock I have to run it through some security clearance to make sure it’s not some insider trading thing even though I don’t get any real insider info in my role. I also have to hold any positions for 30 days. I am a serious trader and don’t have time to sit around and wait for my job to tell me I can or can not buy a certain stock. Even if it only takes 30mins for them to give me the green light the share price has already changed (for better or worse but 90% of the time for worse) from the price I wanted to buy at. The only shares that I’m allowed to buy without getting permission are 10 shares of the company I work for but the chart is absolutely abhorrent. I would not touch this stock with a 10ft pole
At least the job pays me and that’s all I can really say. I save a good chunk of my paycheck and it helps that I just really know how to manage my money. I remember back in high school I was struggling to get Cs in my math classes every year yet amazingly the only exception was financial algebra junior year which I comfortably got a B in. I’m better off financially than most of my friends (who I always call broke bitches) even though some of them make higher salaries than me

One bump ....anybody have reducing debt suggestions for the board? You know man, they don't teach managing money in high school - the only way people can get help is from their pals on MAR ffs? How about crypto-currency? Anybody convert cash into real estate besides a personal home? Anybody flip homes or have a rental property they collect on? Anybody convert cash to Gold etc? Rich uncle?
