Well forgetting about Gladstone entirely, supporting actor is where you see the trend with Alda, Hounsou, Hill, Hardy and Pitt all making it in with DiCaprio. Which is more notable I think because Hill and Hardy were nearly last minute nominees, making it seem like there is some strange kind of magic DiCaprio has with getting his male co-stars in.

Maybe, but maybe not. Given De Niro was the one to miss for The Irishman when his co-stars both made it, I could see the push centered around "making up" for that "snub".

I still think the distracting-as-fuck de-aging and CGI, coupled with De Niro's relatively low-key performance against Pesci and especially Pacino, is predominantly what killed De Niro's chances for The Irishman.

I'm still predicting both of them tbh. Though a De Niro snub is starting to become a tempting prediction.

It's almost never about how many Oscar nominations they give you - it's how many they deny you - and for De Niro -it's noticeable particularly as a villain (Mean Streets, King of Comedy, Irishman, Goodfellas, Heat, Untouchables)....it's also true with Golden Globes.....like check out the ones he missed there too (Godfather 2, Awakenings ffs)

The shocking thing to me is how BSA has become a thing now with Howerton and Melton having their cadre of supporters.......I wouldn't have thought either would get much traction and I like both but seemed one easy to pass over then they maybe are nowadays......still I would throw my hands up and bash my head against the wall if De Niro misses a nod......I've picked out a spot though...... :uhoh:

I also can’t see him missing this year, unless he missed a major industry award. He still feels under rewarded in terms of the industry awards, he has 1 globe win and 0 BAFTA wins. Even his contemporaries have at least a BAFTA win.
