I have this inkling that Randolph would be one of those nominees that sweeps almost all the critics awards under the sun like Willem Dafoe/Laurie Metcalf/Virginia Madsen did, but Emily Blunt would win all the industry awards in the end.

This lineup is fire. Too bad Oscars will probably boot half of these to include generic scores from their favorites, like Desplat (Nyad) and Williams (Indiana Jones).

God I hope not Oppy is my fave of the year, and I agree. Randolph is 100% more deserving.

Nice to see my predicted resurgance of Matt Damon and Air happened with these Golden Globe nominations.
Still think Damon is a dark horse for an Oscar nod, in lead for Air or supporting for Oppenheimer (even though he hasn't really showed up anywhere as of yet for the latter). But right now, if I had to, I'd bet on him ousting one of the more favored lead actor contenders for Air. The movie is AMPAS catnip. I feel Damon is in a good position to be rewarded with for a strong year, either with a supporting nomination for Oppenheimer, or a Best Actor nod for Air. So he's a factor in both the male actor races this year, as far as nominations go. Ah yes, congrats Matt for making it in a category that also had room for...Cage in Dream Scenario and Phoenix in Beau is Afraid. You're right in the thick of the Oscar race! Man really tried to pull out the receipts for this

Blunt wouldn't be the worst winner. She's quite good in the last 30 or so minutes when she actually gets some screentime, and has a really great & strong presence in the interview scene that sets her apart from Oppy's meekness. It easily could've been a great performance if Kitty had factored more into the script and she deserves a lot of credit for what she managed to pull from it.
nothing against Randolph who I haven't seen yet. Can't wait to see Holdovers.

Man really tried to pull out the receipts for this Notice anything here? The Golden Globe Comedy or Musical Best Picture nominees. Just about every one of these films has a realistic prospect of being nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars in a field of 10. Air is among the nominees. You notice what films aren't nominated for Comedy/Musical BP? Dream Scenario and Beau Is Afraid. So yes, I did pull "receipts" because I'm basing this on Damon getting nominated with his film, not just showing up by himself as random filler. It's a show of strength and support for his overall movie that Cage and Phoenix did not display. And that has to be taken into account and taken seriously (never mind the whole having an overall great year with Oppenheimer thing )This isn't rocket science. We've both been doing this for years and we both know how this works. Air getting a BP nod isn't a small thing. Damon is in play. He may or may not make it to the final 5 at the Oscars, but he's clearly #3 at worst in his category behind Giamatti and Wright, because he has BP strength here. If Air didn't get the BP nod, I'd probably have said nothing. But it did, so ultimately my initial call was correct. Air is a contender, even if it's a lower-tier contender.

Just so people know, the Globes has over 300 members and added a large international body.

I guess that's where we're mainly differing, I don't see Air getting a BP nod here as that much of a sign of strength, just that TCP is flopping an unbelievable amount. If Air was stronger, Davis would have made it. And I think Damon is 4th behind Chalamet as well. I'd love Air to be more of a contender (it's still in my Top 10), but I currently have it at #14 in my BP predictions, meanwhile my predicted 5 in Actor are all in Top 8 films at worst.

There was no reason for Air to miss the AFI and the NBR Top 10. It could still make PGA though.
