It looks quite good. I remember hearing some negative rumblings about the film and that Harvey dropped the film, but it looks like he's still on as the distributor and the film had pretty good ink out of Sundance and Cannes (85 RT, 73 mc). Renner also has some of his best reviews since THL. It's set for August 4th, same weekend as HOHW last year.

Been anticipating this one for quite some time. Glad to finally see some footage too. Renner is supposed to be excellent in this.

I don't have much faith in it's award chances because of Harvey, but I do hope it gets a proper release and does well for Renner's sake. I'd love to see him move away from the generic action films and get back to his roots.

Looks pretty great. Olsen looks fantastic, maybe she'll have a few showier scenes for recognition. Renner looks great. Pretty psyched, It's weird saying I'm psyched for this because this looks pretty depressing.

Still one of my most anticipated of the year for sure. It looks a bit standard, but Sheridan certainly has a way of twisting conventional stories into something more unique.

I'm curious about how it will find its place among Sicario and HOHW neo-western style.

Not bad. Although for me, it seemed like an episode of Longmire.

Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Wind River’ Opens Robust
TWC appears to have a hit with Wind River. The second feature directorial for Taylor Sheridan and starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, the Sundance fest debut grossed over $164K in its initial four locations.
The Weinstein Company opened Wind River, the second feature-length directorial from the multi-hyphenate Taylor Sheridan, who received an Oscar-nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Hell Or High Water this year. In four locations, Wind River grossed $164,167, giving it a very solid $41,042 per theater average, placing it in the top half-dozen of the year when measuring PTAs, just behind Beauty And the Beast which had a $41,508 PTA its first weekend, though that title was in several thousand theaters. Fellow Sundance debut The Big Sick still lays claim to the year’s best PTA so far at $84,315 when it opened in June.
“Taylor Sheridan has proven his voice. He takes his flag as an incredible filmmaker and writer,” said TWC COO/president David Glasser Sunday. “I think the numbers show that in a marketplace that has been generally sluggish, this is a movie that has [excited audiences]. It has had great word-of-mouth and reviews.”
TWC said that 60% of its audience was over 35, skewing 53% female. It also said that Wind River had 70% ‘recommend,’ and exits showed 90% checking the top two boxes. “Now obviously the goal is to take a movie like this and find its legs with broader audiences, but a $40K average shows it has [potential].” Glasser said TWC will try and tap younger viewers and maintain its base as it heads to the top 20 markets in about 40 locations next week. Wind River will expand further August 18.

Saw the trailer in front of Dunkirk, looks great.
Then it was followed by The Snowman, which leads me to believe that women should not go to snowy environments in 2017.

I liked it a lot, not as memorable or impressive as "Hell or High Water" or "Sicario" but still very solid effort. Renner and Olsen were both great.

What do you make of any Oscar possibilities for the film? i doubt it'll get anything. Not because it was weak or something but more because it seems it's not Weinstein's number one ("Mary Magdalene" got a better "prime" release date) and Harvey doesn't have enough power right now to campaign enough for more than one film. I'd say Sheridan's screenplay and Renner's performance would be its best shots but both categories are very competitive that I doubt they'd make it.
