ORIGINAL The Holdovers Anatomy of a Fall Maestro Past Lives Air
ADAPTED Oppenheimer Killers of the Flower Moon Barbie American Fiction Poor Things
I fully believe that the Academy will place Barbie in Adapted despite WB's choice to campaign in Original.

For reasons I’ve explained in the Barbie thread I’m predicting it to go original. You can do what you please. Original Screenplay Barbie The Holdovers Past Lives Anatomy of a Fall Maestro Adapted Screenplay Killers of the Flower Moon Poor Things Oppenheimer All of Us Strangers American Fiction Still feeling these. What the rest of you got?

Who are you all predicting to win right now? This is really hard.
Adapted- I was originally thinking Poor Things but I think I’m going with Oppenheimer right now. It’s close but there are two factors for me. 1. I have recently changed my BP prediction to Oppenheimer and 2. Lately they have been loving their writer/directors in these categories and this will be Nolan’s 3rd writing nod
Original- Absolutely torn between Barbie and the Holdovers here. I think The Holdovers is going to absolutely kill with the older voters in the Academy but going with my point above it is written by just some guy and Barbie is written by TWO writer/directors. I guess I’ll say Barbie but I don’t feel good about it.

My god adapted is a bloodbath. Opens up the holdovers to have a very intriguing screenplay acting win combo potentially.

Thank goodness. We did not need a new avenue for category fraud.

Don't think Barbie is winning in Adapted Screenplay category against the likes of Oppy, KOTFM and Poor Things. It looks like supporting actor is only above the line win it can get and that doesn't bode well for its BP chances.

I am glad to see that Barbie is now seen as an adaptation. The movie literally said Based on a previous source. It is bad news though for AYTGIMM, All of Us Strangers, and The Color Purple. It just made it harder for them to get in. The adapted side feels pretty set. Although, he could see The Zone of Interest getting into Adapted Screenplay and knocking off one of those locked in screenplays. Great news for the Original side, particularly Air and Saltburn.

I would say it's absolutely possible. Fennell's a previous winner, and even though Saltburn is a very divisive movie and a lot of people ding its screenplay as the main reason why, it's a pretty thin field in Original Screenplay and there's not that many alternatives. Saltburn could absolutely nab that fifth slot.

Well, I don't actually think it's impossible, I just wanted to use a Bernstein gif (since the nomination will go to Maestro and not Saltburn) and this was the closest one to the topic I could find.
