Ok, so here we go....... the most anticipated Women's World Cup of all time is here. This promises to be the best of all time according to pretty much every journalist. Why? 1. I'm awake for every game. I have a graveyard sleep time, and Australia/New Zealand is perfect for my needs. 2. Field is expanded to 32. 3. Lots of people watching for the first, or 2nd time. 2 billion predicted to watch. That's much more than the Super Bowl and these are women. Not sure if this is gonna be more watched than the NBA nowadays tho. For people who never saw this event before, that's alright. 2019 was the one to remember. 1999 remains the best World Cup of all time, but they weren't that memorable for 20 years between '99 and '19. So it's alright if you missed them. Wow. germany is seriously out. I cant believe my eyes. This goes against any logical history I've been used to. That was a really tense game.
At least US advanced even if it was by a goalpost bo unce. Avoided that embarrassment.
Still fuming about that Italy South Africa game. Feels like Italy shouldve went on.

Even some of their own country members are rooting for Sweden - altho most of the people saying that are more die hard Americans than they were ever a fan of the team. I think Rapinoe needs to step down, tho personally. Because she's clearly the ringleader of this anti-American chant. Leave politics out of sports and just play the game. Most of these girls just want to play soccer, but Rapinoe is pushing left-wing agenda well over the boundary line. But then, the other way to look at it is...... the women are winners, while the men while never win anything - even tho they seem to love the country they play for. And in America, the largest soccer game ever watched on TV was the women. |

This game should've never happened this early. Putting the 2 best teams here, when it should've been the final match. Well Sweden should win the world cup now. Their biggest opponent is out of the way, this is gonna be their best opportunity.

And those national anthem boycotts and left wing politics incessantly pushed by Rapinoe. But truthfully, Sweden is the best team remaining. Most people could've smelled this loss coming after the US thought they could just reset after that bad Portugal effort. |

My ranking of the 8 remaining teams:
1. Sweden - I think they're the best remaining team. They have top players riding the bench. The most well rounded team. Pretty much every player they have is a penalty kicker. I think they'll wear you down in the 2nd half with their physical and athletic superiority. It would be a disappointment if they fail to capture this world cup.
2. Australia - With the way they've been playing in the past 2 games, I think this team can advance to the Finals even without Sam Kerr. It's a team game, not a one player game, and this team has shown they're well capable of dominating both sides of the ball. It'll be a disappointment if they can't beat France.
3. Japan - Where Sweden is the most impressive physically, I think Japan is tactically and technically the most impressive team. It'll be a grind Sweden/Japan - either can win, but once again game is happening too soon.
4. England - Just be happy to advance past Nigeria any way possible - since Nigeria has been a stingy team all tournament long. I think this team will get past Colombia, but once they're in the Semifinals I can't see them winning 2 straight to capture a World Cup. But you never know. This team sometimes look like they flat out know what they're doing, and can execute at a high level.
5. Spain - Their offense can look really good, but they haven't really played anyone yet. One of the weakest schedules so far.
6. Netherlands - This team feels just like the 2019 version. Plays these close stalemate games. But they're pretty good around the box, but I just don't see them as one of the elites. They're capable of making the SemiFinals, and they can beat Spain easily, tho.
7. Colombia - They've lasted much longer than I thought, but still not a lethal team. Their offense probably isn't good enough to get them much further than here.
8. France - Just don't see it. They've rode a real cupcake schedule, and while they beat Brazil and looked like the superior team - I don't think beating Brazil says much. I think most people clearly favor Australia in the next match.
