According to the World Health Organization's (WHO) cancer research center, aspartame is being linked to cancer. This means your Diet Cokes and sugar-free products are now being categorized as a possible carcinogen. Nobody is saying, "do not have aspartame products", but avoid high doses of it. We will see what happens from here, in terms of recommendations of maximum dosage. There seems to be a debate within different health organizations about the side effects of aspartame products. For me, sugar free products are terrible. Diet Coke always gives me a headache. It's absolutely wild that people think these diet drinks are actually good for you.

Do you have any thoughts on the topic on hand? Oh I do, very much so.......but there isn't much to say about aspartame - the article is self evident and self defining isn't it? .........Personally what is interesting to me is the connection between unnatural things like aspartame, Frankenchicken and synthetic human basketball phenom LaDishwasher Sandwich Maker II ........ Let's see what others think

No shit ? My physician (and lot of doctors and scientists) have been telling this for years. So weird that people are only realizing this now. It's actually one of the reasons we have the product Splenda - which is a sugar "like" product that metabolizes in the body differently so you don't gain weight. Splenda is actually a wonder drug kind of product in that way if you read how it was developed...........it was created specifically to avoid aspartame because of this - years ago......

No shit ? My physician (and lot of doctors and scientists) have been telling this for years. So weird that people are only realizing this now. It's not necessarily weird, but a reflection of how society replaced one form of junk sugar with another kind. Aspartame products are WORSE than the just regular sugar, and people ended up going overboard with the substitute stuff. Now we're in a position where we have to set limits for sugar substitutes. Bottom line really is: Drink more water, eat your fruits and vegetables.
I personally lost about 50-60 pounds back in 2008, and kept it off since then. The two big things I cut out was pop (Soda) and vending machine items. If I go to a restaurant, I am ordering ice water with lemon in it.

I always tried to avoid drinks and sweets with aspartame because it's a source of phenylalanine. There are kids who suffer from phenylketonuria and know they have to avoid animal proteins, but they are generally allowed to get candies and soft drinks as long as they have normal sugar in it. Giving a kid with that genetic disease a beverage with aspartame could be dangerous, as they can't recognize it contains something that's not good for them. I had a discussion once with a nanny whose girl had diabetes and wanted all mothers to supply only foods and beverages with artificial sweeteners.
